Schuch, Stuart Wyllie. j Hats off to Emery county's 1918 class boys! Uncle Sam's man-power resources were enriched the past week by forty-eight forty-eight loyal Emery county nephews who registered with the local draft board their readiness for duty among the country's fighters if such should be their lot. The number to reach the age of 21 years since the 1917 registration reg-istration is somewhat less than had been expected originally by the local draft officials, but is readily accounted for by the fact that a large number of young men who would -have come within the age limit have volunteered during the past year and are now in Uncle Sam's fighting forces some being be-ing in France even now. Not less than sixty new men would have been secured in Emery county if the government's gov-ernment's basis for estimating had been borne out, but a like falling off is reported from all sections of the country. The men newly registered will not now be permitted to enter the service until serial and order numbers have been assigned them similar to the men registered last year. After this has been done this privilege will likely be extended to them as it has been to the men registered last year. Out of the forty-eight who registered register-ed Wednesday, one, a Green River River man, is registered as an alien enemy, and there are at least six of the number who are married. It is expected that quarterly registrations regis-trations will be arranged for within a short time, so that a steady flow of eligible young men will be forthcoming' forthcom-ing' at regular intervals. |
