there only occasionally a ride through this favored spot is little short of a revelation all the more true Is this at this particular time of the year when the fields are waving with hay and grain the sugar beet patches are looming gloriously in the sunlight and the orchards are bending under their pre clous loads the writer was glan a ride to tre monton and back a week ago in an automobile to and to say that we were astounded with what we ne saw would be PU putting t I 1 ing it mildly the chauffeur drove from brigham to corinne thence to bear arher city turning west on the evans pike north of bear river to the intersection of the lowa iowa string at the intersection of these two roads on the north and cast lays the splendid orchard of the boar bear river valley orchard company a corporation of brigham city gentlemen which is going to yield a glo ilous harvest of apples this year tho the trees are already propped up many of them and the apples are wonderfully free from worms between the rows of yong trees set out during the last year or two sugar beets are maturing in a splendid manner with promise of a heavy tonnage along the string north the panorama is il one revelation after another perhaps it would be well to confess right here that we had bad never traveled over that road before and consequent ly had never seen the farms and orchards except lot for the disant L perspective irom from the train A few days before our trip the he valley was visited by a heavy rain but some indest industrious rious individuals alth er ei milita officials or the farmers T eliad had been out with a drag and the highway was as smooth as a a macadamized road the going was first class and because Lie cause of the good roads the driver as well as passengers could look around and enjoy the gorgeous scene which w aich stretched away on every side among the beautiful farms orchards and beet fields which look as good as anything one could imagine associated with nith the garden of eden might be mentioned those owned by al B D hart robert allen alien V IV 1 crozier Croz ler 11 W P orr lloyd sigler john P holmgren G INT and many others and they all have tho the appearance of being capable of returning to their owners a handsome dividend each ear when the frost is on the pumpkin indred the farms that stretch away from froin every side of Tre mouton are veritable gold mines to use a popular phrase and the crops in the fields andon the trees indicate a most blessed and prosperous year Tre tremonton monton was a hive of industry the day we balled called the main street of the town was congested aith teams while ahll the sidewalks were a moving pic picture of humanity as the farmers IR bended end ed their way from shop to shop making their week end purchases tremonton Tre monton boasts of more paved sidewalks than any city in the county in in proportion to population those line fine cement walks alks are a joy in the summer time even so eo one can just almut imagine how bow the citizens and visitors appreciate hem bliem when the wet wh eather comes along new buildings are springing up on every side and the town Is fast taking on ala the most notable buildings are the union addition tor for office and general store purposes alch which isas fine is as ailY anything thing in the county cou aly and the new bank building now under course of f erection the farmers Fan ners cash union unica aro are now enjoy lag ing their new quarters and they are certainly elegant the excavation was being made for the new bank and vie tte plans call for a n modern building many now homes are also 3 course of etu lind a b spirit 11 in it ot of progressiveness seemed to pervade the very atmosphere A few minutes were ere spent in looking through the cider factory which la Is another tion alon to the fellow who does not get very far beyond the confines of his own home no visitor to tremonton Tre monton should go away before taking a look through the cider factory to see how the apples and other fruits are converted into the finest vinegar on the market today driving home through tigh elwood the glorious panorama of waving grain and hay fielda of man to cookfar look tar far away for or the good things while right under his own nose lie the most precious gifts of god to man it has not been so many years since the bear river valley had but rive valley and demonstrate mol what could be done right here at home no better land lies ijes out doors anywhere in the world than is pound in the bear river valley and after a arhe through it a person feels that no better life can call Vos possibly sibly be enjoyed than that of a life on one of those good farms in the valley its a great country and each bear ear it grows a little more in improvement productive hess acreage under cultivation and intensive farming fanning it will do any and everybody in boy box ulder elder county good to take a ride through it it will help him to
