Jos. J. Larsen was chosen and set apart as Bishop. The choice made seems to suit everyone, and well it might, as Elder Larson is a man everyone every-one respects and loves. His character and integrety is above reproach. Long may he preside over this ward. We expect the celebration of the 20th anniversary of this ward which takes place Friday, to eclip.se anything undertaken under-taken in this ward. There will be a parade in the morning followed by a program of twenty years ago then lunch will be served. At 2 o'clock a program of today will be rendered, at 4 o'clock a ball game between Castle-I Castle-I dale and Cleveland. A dance in the j evening will wind up the affair. Miss Frost of Ephriam made a short visitwith Mr. and Mrs. J.H.Otterstrom. i HUNTINGTON Last Sunday the town was nearly depopulated. de-populated. At Sunday School there was only one superintendent and three teachers for the whole school. Then at meeting there was no bishop and very few people, so the conference at Castledale Castle-dale must have been well attended by the Huntington people. On Monday night the Banner Orchestra of Fountain Green was with us and were free in dispensing the sweet strains from their instruments in our hall, and a good number of our people were there to take part in the enjoyment. No time was spent in tuning instruments, almost a continuous strain of music was pervading the hall. All said "Its good to be here." At 5 o'clock next morning morn-ing the posse was enroute for home via Orangeville, well pleased with the treatment received and the visit in general while in Emery county. How is this? The last to be put in, Huntington bridge, the first to be used. That's the way we do it over here. The old new bridge on Cedar Creek wash, we'll soon be using that too. Our Sunday School was needing a little means to keep the business part going, so a committee was appointed to raise a little funds and they put on a dance for the children from six until nine o'clock. The children paying 5 cents. At nine o'clock the adults took a turn at the regular fee. They also sold ice-cream. It resulted in a clean up of about $20 above the expense. Of course the good people helped them out with the products for the cream. Our school house janitor, with a small posse, was seen on the school grounds yesterday clearing the weeds and other oostructions out of the way for the fun making children in the near future. A few repairs have been made the last few days in and around the house, also a house to hold the extra property belonging be-longing to the school. The party up Huntington canyon are still surveying. We don't know whether wheth-er they will complete the railroad or not but its one step nearer in that direction and looks good to us. A number num-ber of our boys are employed there. Helllo, Castledale! Why didn't you answer to the phone we sent over in regard to the ball game? Our boys got on their red Pants and just Iook'd fine. We guess it rained on you and backed you out. It rained quite hard here, but a number of the people looked for the ball game and foot-race. Our brass band are visiting at Cleveland Cleve-land today and helping to make their 20th Anniversary a success as well as seeing the transfer of the bishopric well done. We wish them a pleasant time well to be rei-.iembered. j PE R RO N j Alittli girl of Lewis 01 sen's was I playing with matches Sunday a id set her cloths on fire burning herself quite b icily although not seriously. Her mother was also burned while extinguishing extin-guishing the flames. The dances given Friday and Saturday nights by the Fountain Green orchestra were decided successes. The music highly appreciated by the dancers and spectators. Miss Clara Folsom and Mrs. Ida Lemon Lem-on and two children of Salt Lake City are here visiting with their sister, Mrs. Clarence Lemon. Miss Lavern Cox of Ferron am Owen Lloyd of Price were married at Price last week. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd have the good wishes of all their Ferron friends. |
