Show CAR30HMERY C0U.N1TES ' AT STATE FAIR Price, Utah, Oct. 25, 1914. I desire to take this opportunity to express my views regarding the display sent to the State fair from Carbon and Emery counties. Some of Mie counties spent from one to two weeks putting up and arranging their exhibit for competition com-petition in the contest for best display, i In spite of the limited time alloted to Mr. Stewart and Mr. Peterson they won third place in their class of coui -ties. In my estimation this accomplishment accomplish-ment was even outdone by the many individual in-dividual prizes won on the various farm products on exhibition. The display was literally covered with first and second premiums. No one could help but be impressed with the fine quality of the produce shown. The ladies did themselves proud in the canned fruit and vegetables as evidenced by the prizes won. In all twenty-three first prizes were won, twelve seconds and one third. This number of firsts and seconds and one third is enormous when you consider that these little counties were in competition with the whole state and that every individual premium won was done in competition with competing com-peting products from all other counties of the state including both first and second class counties. Great credit is due the good farmers who so generously furnished the material ma-terial for display but of especial importance im-portance is the service rendered by Mr. ; R. H. Stewart, county demonstrator, ; in selecting the best and arranging it in first class order for display. j Along with Mr. Stewart was Jam.s Peterson, who aided so materially in the work. The counties should be proud of these men and the showing they have made for the people of eastern east-ern Utah in the agriculture world. Yours very truly, ROBERT J. EVANS. State Lead.:r Price, Utah, Oct. 28, i: .4. Emery and Carbon counties have received re-ceived so many compliments on their exhibits at the State fair since I had the article published two weeks ago, that I felt it might be a good idea to again say a word or two. As I before stated, we walkel off with twenty-three twenty-three first prizes, twelve second prizes, including the women's work, and as a county display of the Second class counties, coun-ties, we took third prize, against; the competition of some of the big counties. We took a prize on nearly every entry ? we made, and received honorable mention men-tion on all things. ! Nearly everything we put on exhibit, ' that did not perish before the Fair 'closed was claimed by the Fair associa-' associa-' tion for the purpose of preserving for , ' the Exposition in California, which J ' shows it was excellent stuff. This will : i be a grert advertisement for us. We j i also gave away some of our produce to . individuals at the Fair, who will do much advertising for us. It is beyond a doubt that our exhibits at the State fair has been a means of j doing very fine advertising for us. Probably there is no way that we could cio ourselves so much good as by adver-; adver-; tising our products at county and state fairs. ' Do not neglect your opportunities, j farmers, but begin to prepare now for I even better exhibits next year. I notice that but few farmers are ' iking advantage of this fine weather. ,e, as farmers, should not let a single day pass without doing some fall ploughing. plough-ing. Get your ploughing done this fail, and conserve the precipitation moisture during the winter. Then in the spring start cultivating early, and get your crops up without irrigation. ROBERT H. STEWART.
