It was accepted for testing and is now operating in nine local councils of the Mountain West Area, Western Region. The nine are Ore-Id- a Council, Boise, Idaho; Snake River Council, Twin Falls, Idaho; Tendoy Council, Pocatello, Idaho; Teton Peaks Council, Idiaho Falls, Idaho; Jim Bridger Council, Rock Springs, Wyo.; Cache Valley Council, Logan; Lake Bonneville Council, Ogden; Great Salt Lake Council, Salt Lake City, and the Utah National Parks Council, Provo. Varsity Scouting uniforms are of a sporty, casual nature as opposed to the military like appearance of Cub and Boy Scout uniforms. We did a lot of questioning, asking people what they needed, asking kids what they wanted. What we found is that as boys grow older, they exhibit some resistance to a military-typ- e uniform, Mr. Allen said. After the 1960s when everyone was declaring their own independence, the era, it wasnt popular university unrest and to be associated with the military. "When we talked about a military-cu- t uniform, there wasnt much excitement for it." Modern Attire But he said there was excitement for a more modem, Casual, sporty attire. A golf shirt with a windbreaker and slacks. Something a young man could wear at home, in school, out with the boys or on a date and still be appropriate, he said. He said parents are excited about the new uniforms, too.
