And the fact is that the religions professed by these bodies are at this very time the state religions in certain other lands. But does anyone call them that Popery" is a menace to democracy" . . . even that, Catholicism is as "totalitarian as Com- "undemocratic?! For nearly 2,000 yean, the Catholic Church has existed under any and all forms of government. Its people comply with the political system of the land they live in . . . refusing to comply only if a political state should command them to violate Gods law. An example is the Catholic resistance to Communism because Catholicism and Communism are incompatible. In the interest of harmony and good w ill . . . and as a matter of Christian and intellectual honesty . . . you should learn the truth about Catholics before seeking to judge them. But in the interest of truth and good will among people of all faiths, this miserable skeleton of intolerance should be exposed for the benefit of the many who otherwise may become unwitting victims of false and misleading books, tracts and other propaganda. . One critic in the United States -- anti-Cathol- suggests that the Catholic Church is 'undemocratic" because it opposes such things as birth control, divorce and questionable reading matter. By this unreasonable standard, a religious denomination which opposes alcoliol drink could also be called "undemocratic" because it bolds principles contrary to the law of the land. Catholics, certainly, make no such criticism. Catholics are called "undemocratic" because they have their own schools. By the same reasoning, all other denominations schools with church-sponsorand colleges could be likewise condemned, despite the fact that religious .schools preceded schools in the United States and Canada, and that most of our private colleges and uni n , S' PLANNING ATRIP? On a night shift she works as a stenographer in the records bureau of the Salt Lake City Police Dept. Daytimes she polices two daughters, Shellie Jo and Keri Lin. While Jackie works, Officer David Bradford of the police department's detective bureau, check detail, leaves the job and goes home to patrol the girls. Which policing job is the hardest? Seems that a few years ago, Jackie had an accident right in front of the police department It was my fault, she admits. Officer Bradford handed her a ticket and decided to do some follow-uwork. He finally followed her light down the aisle. Jackie thinks that their both working in the police department makes them a closer family. It helps me to understand his work, she says, and it gives them interests in common. And when Im at the station, he wont let anybody else take his reports," she added. BUT ITS NOT all work without play, and Jackie and her husband go bowling together in the winter, golfing in the summer.
