Show ORANGEVILLE Another little one .has come to the home of Mrs. David Judd to help swell the number of Orangevile residents. The Academy baseball boys played the Orangeville team on Washington's birthday. The game was a lively one ' ending with 15 to 18 in favor of the home boys and one more inning coming I to them. It snowed considerable the night of the 21st and threatened all 'the morning but the boys, nothing daunted, were on the campus with ! teams and scrapers to prepare the i grounds ' for 'the prospective game. They did a creditable job, making a ! great improvement on the playground. A birthday party was given by Mrs. lAlma Guymon, the event being her : husband's birthday. A handsome chair ' was presented to him by the relatives. ' A very pleasant time was had by all. i Mr. Geo. Tatton is down with small-1 small-1 pox, and is reported very sick, j The Calico ball given by the Ladies Aid was a most successful event. An excellent program was rendered aiso ; a splendid lunch. Although the eve- ning was wintry without, it was very ! cheery within, with the summer at- tire and inviting decorations., j There was a special school election held .his week to vice upon the proposition of raising the taxes to complete the school house, the amount being 17i mills. The project received a favorable majority. There is strenuous effort being made by the prominent men of the town to better the conditions of our public buildings and grounds for the benefit ot the young people. They expict to, arrange two of the unfurnished rooms of the school house for a public library and gymnasium. There is much that can be done by the boys as well and , a hearty response is hoped for in hauling haul-ing gravel on the park site plowing and scraping, and otherwise preparing to set out trees and like while there is so much time for spring planting. Come to the front, boys! Do what, you can before you wilL have to devote all your time on-the farm. A report has come to the relatives of Alma Follmerthat he is seriously ill. Miss Alice Reid has returned trorn Kenilworth, where she has been for a long time visiting her sister, Mrs. Moffitt. f ' Mrs. Luke is enjoying the company of her sister, whom she she has not seen for 20 years. Chickenpox is going the rounds a-, j mong the children, but the whooping ' cough has spent its strength. Bert Thayne and his sister, Rhoda,. have gone to Idaho. - . ..
