Show PRACTICAL AIO IS FURNISHED FARMERS Commencing among the farmers and stockmen of tne Uinta basin, and to extend ex-tend through Carbon and Emery counties, coun-ties, the first members of the extension division of the Utah Agricullur.il college col-lege under the new Smith-Levey appropriation ap-propriation of the federal government are at work giving practical and valuable valu-able instruction in the field. John T. Caine III, Gertrude McCheyne and L. M. Windsor make up the corps of the extesion division of the Agricultural college. The week beginning October 26 and ending Saturday, October 31, will be spent in Carbon and Emery counties. Price, Green River, Castledale, Cleveland Cleve-land and Wellington are included in the next week's schedule. Under the Smith-Levey appropriation the Utah Agricultural college received several thousand dollars to carry on ex-teiifion ex-teiifion work in Utah. The party no at work in the eastern portion of the state is the first under the new appropriation, appro-priation, but Dr. E. G. Peterson, director di-rector of the extension division, declares de-clares that the department is going right after the work and will soon hare it in full swing. As a benefit to the farmers and stockmen of the state, this new departure of the Agricultural college, col-lege, under the federal appropriation; will be of unlimited value. It will mean the doubling of work that has been carried on by the extension division during the past few years. John T. Caine III is lecturing on animal ani-mal husbandry. His principal work is in making the tarmer and extensive stockgrower acquainted with the best types of stock suitable for their sections of the country; also the best methods of marketing their stock, fattening them and the proper, feeds His work is also to illustrate and impress on the farmers means of fighting animal diseases. di-seases. Gertrude McCheyne is on the tour principally to organize home economic societies among the women of the farming farm-ing districts. She is also lecturing on home economic questions. It is the purpose pur-pose of this department of the extension exten-sion division to create an interest among the women in tne farm districts to im prove the home life and home conditions Clubs will be organized in each town that is visited on the tour for the pur-i pur-i pose of furthering and boosting the ! movement.
