Show FEARFUL TOLL OF WAR. Announced That 135,000 Wounded Have Passed Through Vienna. Geneva. An interesting uncensored dispatch from Vienna, published in the Lausanne Gazette, says that according accord-ing to official figures no fewer than 135,000 Austrian wounded had arrived arriv-ed at or passed through Vienna up to September 13. All English, French and Russians who were made prisoners when the war was declared and who were without funds have been obliged to dig trenches in Danube. The authorities also advertised for 20,000 men to construct con-struct defenses around Vienna. Since the war began eight generals have been dismissed, including General Gen-eral Brundermann, inspector general of the army. Two generals, on learning learn-ing their disgrace, shot themselves. |
