Seniors make beautiful music MAGNA Fifteen Magna senior citizens have learned they can make beautiful music together. Organized several years ago by Edythe Hales and Goldie Mauch, the group meets each Tuesday for practices, and performs once or twice a week for dances, church activities, or during the holiday season, for special Christmas programs. The groups organizers met in a class where they began discussing their love for music. Soon they were playing duets together and others sought opportunities to join them. Weve had three marriages among our musicians and our drummer just returned from a trip around the world," said Hales, the groups conductor. Mauch, who plays the piano, provides an unusually lively accompaniment for the group's music. Musicians include Annie Sabin, Leona C. Eddington, Bertha Sutton, Rita Day, LaVella Nielson, Nan T. Thornock, Kenneth Moesser, Bernice Larson, Ida Ewell, Kate Pearce, Gloyd Dangerfield, Tad Lortensock, and Melva Kilpatrick. The group, which performed recently at the Magna Senior Citizen Centers Christmas party, has a full repetoire of holiday music. I know Im kind of prejudiced, but theyre really good," said Lester Sabin, who describes himself as site manager at the Magna Senior Citizen Center. The group plays together while also featuring special solos, duets, quartets, and a special treat: an imitation of a train and its whistle, done by the Moesser, groups drummer. the new SALT LAKE CITY-M- ake year special for children by taking them to the programs sponsored by the Salt Lake County Library System.
