Wagstaff Property taxes are unfair; a users' tax would be better. Other ways to make a fair tax in the community should be explored. What would you like to specifically accomplish as aa areawide represeatative? Bunkall: First of all to get elected, and once elected I want to be available to really listen to residents of the city, no matter who they are. This is one of my campaign pledges. I also believe that the representatives have got to have first in their minds what I have referred to as "a delicate balance of unity. Even though I realize we will have some contrasting ideas and some conflicts, there is no reason why we can't resolve these and compromise justly." Q: How will you go about selecting a city manager and what salary range will you pay? Wagstaff He believes the selection of the right manager is very important. The salary is a touchy issue, he said, but it ought to be above that of the police chief. To get a good manager he believes the range will have to be per year. As to the councilmens salaries, he believes a committee should be established to make a recommendation. His first thought is somewhere from $300-60- 0 per month. Maloney He believes the city should stay within the present personnel budget, which is $29,000 for the mayor and $22,000 for each of the two commissioners. That would allow $7,000 per year for each council member and $29,000 per year for the city manager, according to his computations. 540-60,0- margin in the primaries. If not, bow would yon make city government more accessible to the public? Bright I think that is the thing that makes the city, is the people. If they cant have an input then there is no use having the city. I dont think they have had it (input) in the past. I think every meeting the public is invited and there is where you get your suggestions, not The neighbors just from talking to neigh bon dont get anything done. They have got to get out and participate. If they dont participate then they can't expect anything as I see h. Then it is left up to the ones who are in the management of the city to do as they see fit the best they can, and that's for everybody. I think that is whats wrong with our Federal government today, nobody takes an interest. W e just talk to our neighbors, and that is as far as it goes.
