Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS FEATURE 10 WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 12, 2001 Wlymas Musings By Myrna Cox I have never been a cat enthusiast. Never! I dont trust cats, they are devious characters who seek your attention, then claw your eyeballs when they think you are not looking. I better start from the first of this tale of woe. Several weeks ago, two little kittens followed, me home. They were hungry, so -- 1 had to feed them. Didnt I? I gave them to the neighbor who is in the business of caring for cats and dogs. Some weeks later she said that my cats were beautiful and loving, and I could bring one back home if I so desired. The cogs started churning. There is one thing that bugs me more than cats turkeys and chickens and such fowl that cluster the front yard leaving deposits of digested seeds and awfulness. Now that really gets my nerves going. I decided that I could train my cat to attack a turkey or whatever. If I taught it to understand the commands of CHARGE, KILL, GETTJM, then I could accomplish the dastardly deed. So I brought the cat home. One fine afternoon, a turkey convention was taking place on the front lawn. My cat, (Skunker) in perfect slinking form, hissed and stalked and bared its claws and teeth at the enemy. I was so excited I could hardly stand it. Then suddenly some over sized turkey spread its wings, I never saw a cat climb a tree with such record breaking speed. I have really been a little disappointed by the lack of killer instinct of my barbaric cat. The other day I was talking with my husband, feeling a bit encouraged. You know, Hon; I said, My cat is really learning to obey, I only had to whack it with the broom twice. He could not contain himself. He laughed out loud, almost in hysterics. I think YOU should leave your cat home and go to obedience - . know Blitzen is around here somewhere!
