The land belongs to all of the people of the United States. I dont want to encourage use ofall of the roads. The value is pristine, we dont want ATV's all over. Mayor Dan Barlow, Colorado City, expressed concern regarding fire and emergency services. We dont know how we will pay for it. Babbitt responded, that is a fair issue. Don Van Brunt, Mojave County, said that Mojave County wants a road crossing the Colorado River preserved where it used to be. It is now in the National Recreation Area (park). We want to build a bridge someday for a North South route to Mojave County on the Arizona Strip and not have to go through other states. Secretary Babbitt said he was pleased to see that a task force to deal with these issues had been organized and he looks forward to its input. |
