May 26 1999 Trooper Cluff investirollover accident gated a one-ca- r at milepost 51 on U.S. Highway 89 that claimed the life ofa California man. The vehicle was allowed to drift off the north side of the road, at which point the back to the driver south. The vehicle started to roll as it made it back onto the roadway. The driver was parover-correct- ed juana. He also cited Greta Heilig for possession of drugparapher-nalia- . Trooper McCleve cited Gardner ofColorado for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Trooper Cluff arrested Wanda Evers ard Michael J. Crouse for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. May 28 Continuing with our special enforcement, Trooper Keller cited and released Peter Glick for littering and possession of marijuana. Trooper Cluff had a couple of arrests on the same day (I think he and Trooper Whitaker had a little side bet going). Cluff first arrested Kurt G. Stanberg for driving while drugged, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Then Trooper Stephen K. Cluff arrested Barbara A. Trooper Bailey couldnt pull him over for speeding, when it was actually Sergeant Cutler and Lt. Squires that clocked him using the laser radar. The violator traveled back a few miles to have a talk with the two supervisors about the whole situation, but it was all in vain because he didnt make any headway with them. It seems that Trooper Bailey had to deal with several unhappy people this week. After stopping and citing a female driver for speeding, the lady said, Officer Bailey, you are a Gadianton Robber, and a Highway Robber. You are here to just suck money from us. .Those of you who dont know what a Gadianton Robber is, just ask someone who has read the Book of Mormon. Anyway, Trooper Bailey states that he has been called a lot of things, including more things by this particular speeder, but never has he been called a Gadianton Robber. During the same period the Animal Control Officer had four investigations, picked up three animals, issued two citations, three warnings, and released adopted out one. Suspect allegedly observedputtingcontainer behind the seat. Citation issued for open container of alcohol. May 23 Theft. Item reportedly taken from a local motel room while occupants were out. May 27 Theft. Jared Mutte, 20, Kanab. Suspect allegedly put on a pair of shorts under his outer clothing and attempted to leave a local store without paying. Suspect was issued a citation and taken before the city judge. Agency assist. Zachary Freeman Stewart, 21, Tucson, Arizona. Assisted Kane County Strike Force. Suspect issued citation for possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and no front license plate. May 28 Threat of suicide. Individual combined alcohol and overdose of pills. Transported to Kane County Hospital. Open container in vehicle. Derick L. Francis, 29, Tempe, Arizona. Vehicle stopped for speeding. An open container of alcohol was in the vehicle. Driver cited and released. Warrant. Janice Bullock, 52, Kanab. Records check revealed a warrant out of Texas. Suspect booked into Kane County Jail. Threat of suicide. Individual entered neighbor's home crying and talkingaboutsuidde.TakentoKane County Hospital for evaluation. June 2 Noinsurancespeeding. Giovani M. Malaver, 22, Scottsdale, Ari- zona. Individual stopped for speeding. No insurance on vehicle. Citation issued and vehicle impounded. Disorderly conduct. Giovani M. Malaver. Suspect allegedly wrote pornographic graffiti at a local store. Suspect arrested for disorderly conduct. The injured was transported to the Kane County Hospital. The ambulance was assisted on a medical call in Strawberry Villas Estates on Cedar Mountain. May 28 A one car rollover was investigated north of Glendale. No injuries reported. May 29 A gas skip reported out of Panguitch was located near Cedar Mountain. The occupants were escorted back to waiting Garfield County deputies after the driver was cited for open alcoholic container in vehicle. A motorist was arrested on Lone Rock beach for DUI. Another motorist was arrested for DUI on Lone Rock Beach. A camper on Lone Rock Beach was arrested for possession of marijuana. May 31 A theft of antique items stolen from the side of a cabin on Cedar Mountain was reported. A camper was arrested on Lone Rock Beach for child sex abuse among other charges. He was transported to the Kane County Jail and booked on first degree felony charges. A single car accident was investigated in Glendale. No injuries were reported. June 2 A report of juvenile problems was investigated in Mt. Carmel Jet. The kids were located and turned over to their parents. The juveniles will be referred to court for underage drinking of alcohol.
