He received the Alumni Merit citation from Utah State University. He was associated with Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Member of the Executive Board of the Great Salt Lake Council, Boy Scouts of America. He received the Eagle Scout Award and 5 palms. He also received the Silver Beaver Award. Past President of Utah Savings and Loan League, Utah Mortgage Bankers Association, Davis County Industrial Board, Bountiful Chamber of Commerce, Bountiful Utah Sertoma International. Member ofthe Bountiful City Power Commision and the Bountiful City Council. Rod served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He retired after 22 years of service in the Army Reserves as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. He was born September 17, 1903 in Marion County, Missouri to Arasmus Foster Masterson and Orpha Etta Crouch Masterson. There were six sons and four daughters: Fallie, Lillian, Julian (Jack), Caroline, Rollan (called Boots), Kittie, Murray, Charles, Leroy, Gilbert, and Doris. He left there at age 17 and worked at a car factory and other jobs before being trained as a chef. He moved to Oregon and worked on the Dietary Staff at the Maltanoma County Hospital before going to Los Angeles, California and became partners with Fred Whimple in a restau- deceased; Rojce Arasmus, Spanish Fork, Utah; Roma Janssen, Houston's Trails End Restaurant 32 East Center Kanab, Utah March 8 Coconut $1.50 $8.00 Roden Grant Shumway Our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend passed , away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 1998 in Bountiful, Utah. Roden Grant Shumway was bom November 6, 1921 in Kanab, Utah to Merlan Grant and Ruth Glazier Shumway. He married his sweetheart, Naomi Maxfield Shumway, on March 8, 1945 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Roden was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Saints. He served in many positions including Elders Quorum President twice, Stake -day Payson, Arizona, Nancy (Max) Hancey, Bountiful. His parents preceded him in death. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all his famil and friends. Memorial services were held Tuesday, March 17, 1998 at the Bountiful 24th Ward Chapel.
