Singer (1987) Twas long ago in darker days, ' Mens souls were lost and spirits strayed. To think of thyself, thats what people said, The spirit of giving and serving were gone and dead. But a few held on to the sayings of old. They struggled and prayed to keep their holds. Then it happened one peaceful and quiet night, . A new star appeared in the East, a light As angels gathered around the shepherds that night, And told them of Bethlehem and the glorious sight. They said, Let us go now, and they made haste; To that manger in the stable, oh what a humble place. As they came to the manger to look quietly . They knew this was the Christ Child and bowed on their knees. When they looked into the cradle and saw His sweet face, They knew this was the promised child, full of love and grace. The Father gave His Son to restore truth and light. That we may live in hope and love and do right. Christ gave of Himself every day of the year. He healed the sick, fed the hungry and spread good tidings and cheer. Many years have come and gone by the way. The skies are becoming darker and so are the days. But we can keep our light shining from the source up above. By helping and giving and sharing our love. Christmas is Christ all year around. So keep it and spread it, this light that youve found. j Southern Utah News welcomes opinions from its readers concerning any subject.
