Show School SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 11, 1996 Little Women is huge success By Kimberlyn Jones Little Women was put on by the Kanab High School Drama Department on November 21, land, dies and leaves her estate to Joe who wants to turn it into a school for boys. Meanwhile Laurie asks Amy to marry him and she accepts. Joe with her keen sense knows that there is something going on and tries to find out from Laurie. When he tells her of his engagement to Amy, she gives him a big hug of congratulation. Mr. Bhaer walks in and sees them hugging mistakenly thinking that she does love Laurie after all. Joe hopes that Mr. Bhaer will ask her to marry him, but he is confused and doesnt dare ask her. Though he loves her very much he tells her that he is going away. Joe starts to cry, trying to conceal her hurt. Finally when Joe is overcome, Mr. Bhaer asks her what is wrong and she admits that its because he is leaving. Bhaer quickly asks her to marry him for then he knows that she really loves him. This play is the best yet, said Dr. McArthur, principal of KHS. Little Women made me cry one minute and then laugh the next. The actors and actresses did an excellent job and really drew me into the story, said Jerr Jones. Aurelia Johnson as Joe led the cast as she played the tomboy who despised the breaking up of her family. When her sister Meg, played by Sara Vreeken, fell in love with John Brook (Kurtis Ence), and married him. To Joes despair Laurie (Brian Merrell) falls in love with her and asks her to marry him. She could not marry him because of her love for writing and her secret love for Mr. Bhaer (Greg Hamblin). With a broken heart, Laurie goes off to Paris. Amy, played by Andrea Crosby as the older Amy and Tori Jones as the younger, goes off to Paris too, to pursue an artistic career. Joe is at home taking care of Beth (Karen Geiger), who is very ill and writing her new , book that was inspired by Mr. Bhaer. While Amy and Laurie are in Paris they meet up. Amy returns home shortly followed by Laurie. Later he and Joe make up and are good friends again. While Laurie and the others go about their business Beth says good bye to Joe and quietly drifts away without any pain.
