Annie McAllister Heaton, age 89, died December 2, 1996 in Kanab. George Temple, She was the fifth of fourteen children, and had twelve chil- dren of her own, and will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother. Mrs. Heaton received her teaching from Utah State in Logan and her BS degree in El- ementary Education from Col- lege of Southern Utah (SUU) at age 55. She loved teaching and was especially good at teaching reading and multiple-age-grou- p classes. For some time after her retirement she continued tutoring children in reading. Annie loved reading to others. In her later years this talent brought comfort to many in the rest homes where she lived. As an active member of the Church she taught inservice, was Junior Sunday School coordinator, sang in the choir and led the primary music. Survivors include her children: Anita (A. Dean) Jensen of Boulder, NV; Alta Kay (Kenneth G.) Broadhead of Kanab; Wayne G. (Marci) Heaton, Steve M. (Judy) Heaton and R. Brent (Donna) Heaton all ofSt. George; Keralee (Ross) Oblad of Las Vegas and H. Charles (Jamie) Heaton of Kanab; brother Mark McAllister of Rialto, CA; sisters: Eleanor Hall and Rue Heaton of Salt Lake City; Marsha Crawford, Washington, and Nettie Dodds McCall of St. George; 41 grandchildren and 39 great grandchil- dren. She was preceded in death by her husband on October 20, and 1978; five children-Wendfour infants, Clifford Val, Basyl Ted, Durrel Burke and Ida LaRae; a daughter-in-law- , Patsy Payne Heaton; grandson, ley Jensen; brothers and sisters: el Brad-Heatoninthe- Elma Miles, Beulah Frost, Luetta Hall, Bemell, John, Bud, Chester and Lawrence, Funeral services were held Thursday, December 5 at noon in the Kanab Utah Stake ter.
