Show School SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS WEDNESDAY MARCH 6, 1996 Kanab High School Friday -- March 8, 1996 ' 7 p.m. I General Admission-$- 4 Seniors & Students-$- 2 kilzl Girls Scouts investiture An investiture and rededication ceremony was held January 25 for troops 591 leaders Laurie Merrell and Beth Mathis and Leslie Ramsay; junior troop 515-PChavez and Tami Clark; cadette Smith; troop 1049-Sar- a 1 1 and Winkleman; troop Nannenga. Brownie, Junior and Cadette Girl Scouts and leaders received their pins at an investiture ceremony. Those girls advancing to another age group were bridged. A rededication ceremony followed for all those girls and adults rededicating themselves to the Girl Scout promise. In our state, the initiative has become Count on Reading, Count on Utah and the local steering committee accepted the challenge by naming this years program: 1996: One Hundred Years, One Hundred Books. classes or small groups. Be on the watch for more information in school library media centers, public libraries, and elsewhere. 7kuui PiautU Clark Colleges Deans List Six students from Utah were named to the Deans List for the fall .1995 semester at Lewis & Clark College. Full-tim- students who earn e at least a 3.5 grade point aver- age, based on 12 graded semester hours, are named for this honor. The list included one student from the Kanab area: Matthias Fripp, a freshman. Lewis & Clark College, founded in 1867, is a select, nationally-ranke- d arts liberal college with a global reach. ShAKCSPCARCAH fCSTlVAL Tour 96 Kanab Elementary PTA donates books Kanab Elementary PTA has donated over $3000 in books to the school. Last week the volunteers, under the direction of president Lynette Shelley, wrapped up the second book fair of the school year by donating over $2000 in books to KES librarian Jeannine Hafen. The first book fair, held in November, had over $1000 in proceeds turned over to the teachers. Each teacher was given a certificate for over $40 to L Celebrate both Utahs Centennial and KIIS Drama's last play this ear by coming to see Little Nell: a melodrama lull of everything you would expect out of a play, plus a little extra. Boo at the villain, and cheer for the hero as we take you back in time, for the experience of a lifetime. If you want to laugh please do come. If you want to cry you can still come, just make sure you bring your own handkerchiefs. Experience first hand the magic of melodrama, come and see it for yourself. Book fairs provide a great opportunity for students and parents to pick out books together and browse in between parentteacher conferences. The third book fair of the year is planned to take place towards the end of spring. This RainbowTrum-pe- t fair will offer the students the chance to buy one, get one free. The KES Parent Teacher Association is staffed with volunteer parents who are concerned in providing extra help to the staff and students in benefiting our childrens education.
