Show News SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS WEDNESDAY MARCH 6, 1996 City reviews Kaneplex plans By Richard Negus Jim Matson gave the Kanab City Council a Kaneplex progress update at its February 27 meeting. Kaneplex is the name of a new rodeo grounds to be located southeast of the city. This included details of the BLM lease transfer from the city to the county, and the transfer of the existing long term lease of the Trap Club. Matson said help would be needed to start work on infrastructure, in order for it to be completed by the first scheduled rodeo on June 1. He asked for money, machinery and any other help the'city can give. The mayor said the city will help with man- power and equipment, but money out of the budget would be a real problem. Councilman Crawford asked if Steve Crosby had done the aerial mapping. Matson said the planning process was in hand. Mayor Adams asked if the Rodeo Associations were doing their bit. Matson pointed out the more than 20 rodeo supporters in attendance, and said they were ready with dollars and sweat to pitch in. Councilman Henderson read the report of the last planning commission meeting. Among items discussed were Cloyd Chamberlains request for a Zone and General Plan Map change to relocate his concrete batch plant. The commission recommends the . council grant his request.
