Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS Community WEDNESDAY JUNE 14, 1885 Obituaries Donald Clayton Alvord Donald Clayton Alvord, formerly of Bountiful and Vernal, Utah, died June 9, 1995, at St. George, Utah, after suffering an aortic aneurysm. He was bom November 12, 1922, in Newton, Massachusetts, son of Clayton H. Alvord and Irene Chapman Alvord. Donald received his Bachelor of Science in Geology at the University of Idaho in 1951, and studies pursued in chemistry at the University post-gradua- te of Lowell, Lowell, Massachusetts, and at the University of Utah. He served in the U.S. Army as a combat military policeman in Europe until after the end of World War II. His unit, the 69th Military Police Platoon of the 69th Infantry Division, was cited for Meritorious Service during the advance across Germany in the spring of 1945. Donald married Beulah "Boo" Anderson Alvord of Shelley, Idaho in December, 1950. They raised two sons, and Beulah died in May, 1986. He married Sheila Kathleen Sorenson of Axtell, Utah, in November, 1986. Donald and Sheila moved from Bountiful to Kanab, Utah, in 1988 and built a retirement home.
