Show News Opinion Letters Continued from Page 4 and I will be doing my project on Utah. The project is due the middle of May, and it will cover such topics as: general facts about your state; geography (climate), history and trade and industry. If you have any photographs they would be great also. I would even enjoy it if you shared some recipes with me. The reason Im writing to your local newspaper is to ask if you could publish my letter in your paper. I am hoping some of the members of your community would write to tell me about their experiences and traditions in Kanab, Utah. I live in southern California and I am sure many things about Kanab are different from where I live. Also, if any of the citizens find time to reply, it would be great if they could enclose a copy of my published letter. Thank you so much for taking the time for my request and information would be most appreciated. these studies it was determined that school children could not study nor learn effectively when hunger pangs are gnawing away at the pit of their stomachs. Hence a program was developed whereby these children students would be given free wholesome food at the school. In time the program spread to free breakfasts and free lunches. In order to establish a basis for which children would be fed, a chart was put together concerned with total family income combined with total family members. Persons from the state of Utah journey to Kane County once or twice a month to verify that the breakfasts and lunches follow accepted food guidelines. WEDNESDAY MAY 3, 1995 the general misperception that the park is closed," noted superintendent Donald Falvey. "In fact, the majority of the park remains open and accessible to the public." Falvey added, "We are very pleased with the quick response to our requests for assistance from the Federal Highway Administration." Since the road is federally owned, ERFO funding (Emergency Repairs for Federally Owned Roads) has been made available to the park to pay for the reconstruction project. This past weekend, crews con- - tinued placing riprap along the embankment of the temporary road to protect it from rising waters being fed by melting snows from the upper reaches of the Virgin River. Rushing waters eroded away 600 feet of road as well as underground electric power, water and sewer lines. There were no injuries or other property damage. By 7 p.m. of the following day, Park Service crews had built a temporary road that enabled 300 guests at the Zion Lodge to drive their vehicles out of the lodge area. By April 14, park maintenance crews had restored water service down canyon to the rest of the park, and by the following week, all utility services had been repaired. t. He had worked until after midnight Monday, and had just returned from a short Arizona flight. Authorities are puzzling over why Jameson was driving in the dangerous, crime-ridde- n area, or whether his assailant had taken him there. Jamesons car was parked not far from where his body was discovered. His wallet with a small amount of cash inside was found under the seat, and his pants pockets were turned inside out. Keeton said that robbery had not been ruled out as a motive. There is a possibility that the assailant may also have been injured, judging from blood at the scene, said Sergeant Keeton. But authorities do not have many details on the murder at this time, and they are getting frustrated. We have one good lead from our secret witness program, commented Sergeant Keeton. We are distributing flyers and photographs of Jameson to get more information. Jameson moved with his family to Las Vegas 15 years ago.
