Within the troop, each girl has the chance to take part to speak, to be heard, and to develop leadership qualities. The girls alo have the opportunities to make new friends, develop their potential, and to become an important part of the community. A girl can enter the Girl Scout program at any of the following age levels: Daisy Girl Scouts, Brow nie Girl Scouts, ages Junior Girl Scouts, and Cadette Girl Scout, 5-- 6-- 6; Leardor Julie Nannenga, of Junior Troop 515, says it givesher quality time w'ith the girls while demonstrating an adult female leadership role. Other women who assist the girls in varies capacities are: Leslie Ramsay, Karen Sinclair, Susan Wood and Kokys Scarth. The Girl Scouts in Kanab participate in such activities as working as a group on badges and individual badges. They decorate the Christmas tree at the post office, and sell Gi rl Scout cookies. The members of Brow nie Girl Scout Troop 1049 are: Sara Allen, Kathleen Downward, Brie Esplin, Lacey Heaton, Allison Anne Shine, Anisa Eslick. The Girl Guides, founded in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low, changed their name to Girl Scouts of America in 1915.
