Growing old gracefully had a birthday recently, and I can say one thingcertain about this whole aging process thing-i- t stinks. Im kidding. It doesnt really bother me that cars manufactured the year I was born are referred to asclas-sics- . Its of little consequence that I can still recite the entire Camel cigarette slogan, even though tobacco ads were banned from TV over twenty-fiv- e years ago. And it doesnt aggravate me that the birthday cards I receive now make crude remarks about the things my age has in common with dinosaurs. Isnt it funny how your perception of age changes as you get older? When I was a little girl, I used to think old was when you were in your twenties. I remember when my sister turned 30, 1 couldnt believe how old she was. My idea of old now is in the 100s, and going up as we speak! But now its me. Im the one getting older. I think old creeps up on you, rather sneakily. You go about life perceivingyourselfasyoung, until something happens to remind you otherwise. Last year I went out roller skating with our sons. Now, I used to be darn good at skating. I could skate forwards and backwards, and if I ever fell, which was rare, Id pop right back up none the worse for wear. Well, tors from Japan. We have needless to say, I fell and spent the next six weeks recovering, (even given the fact I have a lot more padding now than I used to have!) When did I get old? Of course, I probably wouldnt think about my age if I didnt have children to continually remind me of it. Our asked me the other day if I personally knew Henry Ford. and family at home and encourage them to visit our area. The fact is modern medicine can do a lot of things to address the things that go along with aging, but we all know they are just delaying the inevitable.
