Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS Community - Bookmobile sets March 13 visit What was it in Larry Birds background that created the drive that catapulted him, a young man from a rural Iowa town with a population of 1,300, Quilt donated to Hospital Auxiliary The Kanab Women 's Civic Club Is donating this patchwork quilt to the Hospital Auxiliary's Thrift Shop. Making the presentation are (from left) Clyde Vance, club community Improvement chairman; Bernice Robinson, quilting chairman and the maker of the quilt; and (right) Mary Jo Morrison, club president. Receiving are LuAm Kenny, manager of the Thrift Shop, and Ed Thacher. Auxiliary president. The quilt will be raffled by the Auxiliary. Tickets are available at the Thrift Shop or Kane County Hospital. Funds will be used to buy equipment for the hospital. Church sets speakers Guest speakers will be filling the pulpit ofthe United Church of KanabFredonia during the month of March. Reverend Ed Kicklighter will be the guest speaker at the 10 a.m. Worship Service March 1 1 and 18. Worship service is open to everyone, and visitors are welcome to the ecumenical service. Fellowship to meet The Christian Womens Fellowship will meet on Monday, March 12, at noon at Kanab City Park. Bring your lunch and come join in the fellowship, says a spokesman for the Fellowship. Our group is and we welcome all Christian women to attend. In case of bad weather, the meeting will be held at Victory Baptist Church. to basketball stardom? This is one of the interesting books to be found on the Kane and Piute Counties Bookmobile visiting next week. The Bookmobile will be in Kanab on Tuesday, March 13. It will be at Kanab Elementary School from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; th e Lippincott residence, 456 S. Johnson Canyon, from 3:45 to 4:15 p.m.; and the Kanab Creek Ranchos Firehouse from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. On Wednesday, March 14, it will be at Kanab Middle School from 9 to 1 1 a.m., the Mt. Carmel Chapel from 11:30 a.m. to noon, Valley Ele-- . mentary School in Orderville from 1 to 2:30 p.m., the Orderville Chapel from 3 to 5 p.m., the Glendale Store from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m., and the Alton Post Jackson called to Chile Mission Roberts. Jackson has been called to serve in the CNIe Santiago South Mission for the LDS Church. He has been attending Utah Valley Community College in Orem and will enter the Missionary ing Center on March Train- A farewell was held in Perron on Feb. 25. 14. Jackson is the son of Anneil Jackson and the late John R. Jackson and the grandson of Mr. and ; Mrs. Lewis D. Jackson of Kanab. He attended elementary school in Kanab and Hurricane. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Kitel are ' the parents of a baby girl bom ; in the Panguitch Hospital on r Tuesday. Emma Hoyt paased away at ; her home on Wednesday mom- ing. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Margaret Sorensen had surgery in Kanab Hospital on Tuesday. We wish her a speedy recovery. Ward Conference was held on Sunday in the First Ward with the Kanab Utah Stake Presidency, Primary, Relief Society, and Young Womens officers in attendance. Mrs. Zelpha Roundy of St. George is visiting at the Rollan Hoyt home. Several people from Orderville attended funeral services for Cecil Pugh in Kanab on Monday. Word, was received of the death of Esther Lamb of Vale, Ore. She was a resident of Orderville years ago. Delbert and Karen Palmer visited in St. George at the dentist and the LDS Temple on Wednesday.
