A big name of an Organization. BPWUSA is a non- non-profi- t, organization partisan, dedicated to promote full participation in the work force, equity and for Ameeconomic ricas working women. BPW was founded in 1917 and is now the largest organization of working women in the world. Joining BPW in its endeavors are the 165,000 women and men who claim membership in the organizations 3,700 local chapters. Members of BPWUSAs network enjoy a wide range of benefits including personal and professional development, member-onl- Reher, formerly of Kanab, and Chris Palmer, Provo, will be honored at an open house in Kanab, Saturday, March 16. Reher-Palme- r Marriage Mr. and Mrs. Wilfried Reher, now of Provo, are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter Jill to Christopher Palmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Merle Palmer of Provo on Friday, March 15, in the Jordan River LDS Temple. Jill graduated from Kanab High School in 1982. She attended Brigham Young University studying journalism and is working for the Provo Daily Herald. Christopher is a graduate of Provo High School and the Utah Technical College in 1982. The young couple plans to make their home in northern California. The Rehers would like to extend an invitation to everyone to come to an open house being held in Jill and Chris honor at the Norman and Glennis Boardman home Saturday, March 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. y services, political skills and awareness and information resources. BPAUSA is the voice of working women. The February luncheon meeting was vey informative. Jerry Lynch of H&R Block pointed out commonly overlooked tax deducations. Pam Robinson was elected as secretary to replace Dolores Hewitt. Mr. and Mrs. Perry Hewitt will be relocating to Sedona, Arizona this month. March meeting will be Thursday, March 21, at 7 p.m. under Zions Bank. Local officers will be installed by Mrs. Lois Pickett, State Acting President. Many women from Cedar City, St. George and other Utah BPWUSA chapters are expected to be present. Special invitations have been extended to Mayor Jenkins, Kane County Commission, Kanab City Council and other local organizations. The meeting is open and if you would like to attend, RSVP to Laurali Noteman at The Pet Place (2184) by March 15. t, Senior Citizens Update by Ella C. Crosby As I sit here getting ready for the Update, Im looking at Wheres the School Spirit? by Danell Wudarski in the last S.U.N. I like the words and poem and hope some way it is noticed by those in our high school, be it teachers or students. Surely it can be helpful in making for a better school spirit in our high school. I especially liked the idea of having The Cowboy Creed given a place in the new Kanab High School. All for one, one for all, All for KHS! and Id like to add the good old school song along with it. That would make for a great school spirit for everyone who reads it. Also we like your Pages from the Past, Danell. Keep up the good work. On with the Update. The first thing of importance is to remind you dinner about the coming which will be Tuesday, March 19 at 6:30 p.m. There will be a good program. This will be our St. Patricks Day Dinner, so plan to bp there. We sure do have some good dinners. times at our Also, Im to tell you the bus will be making a full days trip to St. George Tuesday, March 26. The bus starts picking up at 7:30 a.m. See what I mean about a full day? Please call early to make reservations for this trip. Plans are to take care of anything that needs to be done. Im to remind you again of the goings on at the Center. Monday is for pot-luc- pot-luc- k k pressure check right after lunch; Tuesday is for oil painting at 1 p.m.; Wednesday is for arts and crafts from right after lunch until whatever time you are finished. Remember, too, there is exercise each morning from 9 until 9:30. Also there are quilts on most of the time. Get your name on the list. Forgot about chorus Monday at 4 p.m. Come join in. We do have fun in all these things. And dont forget our lunches Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Just one lunch and you will be back for the next, and the next. Welcome home, Ottleys, we have missed you. blood Special Interest Fireside Scheduled Sunday, March 17, is the date set for a special fireside for all single adults at the Stake Center. The time is 7:30 and refreshments will be served. H. BERNELL LEWIS H. Bernell Lewis Honored at Funeral Service Harold Bernell Lewis, age 72, died March 5, 1985. He was born June 25, 1912 in Spanish Fork, Utah to John William and Maud Hicks Lewis. On January 21, 1933 he married Elva Lewis in Spanish Fork. The marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple. Bernell graduated from Brigham Young University and taught school and coached at Kanab High School for 12 years. Bernell served as a Kanab City councilman, as mayor of Kanab for 8 years and as a Kane County Commissioner for one term. Mr. Lewis served as a counselor in the Bishopric for ten years, bishop for 11 years and as a Kanab Stake High Councilor for 8 years. At the time of his death he was serving as a Kanab Stake Patriarch. He was president of Lewis Meats Inc. Bernell loved sports and was devoted to the youth of Kane County. Survivors include his wife, Elva, of Kanab; children Jerry B. Lewis of St. George, Mrs. C. Glade (Judith Ann) Hurst of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Martin (Diane Kathleen) Francom of Bremerton, Washington; and Patric R. Lewis of St. George, also 19 grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; one brother, J. Will Lewis, of Salt Lake City. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 9, 1985 in the Kanab Stake Center. Burial was in the Kanab City cemetery under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary. Funeral Held To Honor Elson B. Burial was in the Kanab City Cemetery under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary. Elson Brigham Riggs, age 72, died March 5, 1985 at his home in Kanab. Elson was born September Quitters Guild To Meet Guild 1912 in Kanab to Brigham Adelbert and Miriam Elizabeth Chamberlain Riggs. He married Ada Evelyn Judd June 1, 1933 in the St. George Temple. She died May 8, 1936. He married Ida Sarah Ward February 6, 1941 in Nogales, Arizona. Mr. Riggs retired from the State Road Department as a surveyor after 20 years of service. He also worked as a cattle rancher most of his life and was an excellent cattleman. He also worked as a surveyor for the Geological Service, served on the Kanab City Planning Committee and was a past member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed leather crafting. Survivors include his wife, Ida, of Kanab, sons Duane B. Riggs of Germany; Lynn A Riggs of Roseville, Minnesota; and Lon W. Mrs. Masterson was most grateful for those who were able to give her rides and provide her a place to stay while in southern California. Thanks Given For Hospitality, Transportation Iris Masterson of Kanab attended a farewell for granddaughter Darlene Siufanua in Riverside, California as Darlene was released from her LDS Church mission February 20. She returned to Hawaii that same day. Mrs. Masterson was most appreciative of the hospitality she was extended by Sherrill and Kerol Neville, who drove her to Riverside on their way to their home in Vista. She also was grateful for the home provided by members in Riverside, Robert and Karen Chaffee. The Nevilles also picked Mrs. Masterson up for some visiting and . While there, she met another couple, Theo and Bettie Fulmer, who were returning to Ftexburg, Idaho and were abled to bring her as far as St. George. I want to thank all who have been so kind," Mrs. Masterson commented, that made this trip possible, especially the Nevilles."
