Fredonia Town Council Tennis Courts, Fredonia Town Council met May 17, 1983. These are the unofficial minutes. A letter was read from Mr. Bill Roberts requesting the use of the tennis courts to teach lessons this summer. The lessons will run for two from 9 weeks from July a.m. to 10 a.m. and 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The cost will be $25 per student. The council felt that these hours would not interfere with the courts use and that it would benefit the 18-2- 9 Town by stimulating interest in tennis. Charlie Glaspie made a motion to go with this suggestion, seconded by Dixie Judd with all council in favor. The National Guard will survey this in July. The Guard will also work on Fredonia Softball Field Gets New Look The concession stand, announcers and timekeepers booth at the Fredonia softball field Is beginning to look like something and when finished will add breatly to the game of softball In Fredonia. The Fredonia Softball Association under the direction of president Sharon Weaver voted to have Jim Kimball present his plans for building a concession stand with a storekeeper and announcers booth overhead to the Fredonia city council. His plans were approved and construction has been progressing since with many donations of material and man hours involved. The town of Fredonia will be reimbursed for the materials for the building from the revenues earned at the concession stand. Any organization wishing to earn some money and use the facility may contact Ila Bundy in Fredonia and make arrangements to use the concession stand. A special thanks for the many extra hours they have put in helping on the building goes to Jim Kimball, Jerry Hibbetts and Larry Weaver. Fredonia is looking forward to a summer of fun and excitement with the third year of co-e- d slow pitch softball to be played. Mr. Young was born April 30, 1926 in Hurricane to Edward W. and Gladys Wilson Yong. He married Elizabeth Shumway March 8, 1947 in Fredonia. Mr. Young is retired from Kaibab Industries and he is a World War 11 Navy Veteran. loved his family, Roscoe silversmithing, fishing, hunting and camping. He is survived by his wife, Beth, of Fredonia, his children Sgt. 1st Gass Edward Preston Young of Ft. Hood, Texas; Howard R. Young and Ray Lynn Young, both of St. George; Mrs. Dennis Lorna Kaye" Waters and Benjamin W. Young, both of Fredonia, and nine grandchildren. His sister, Lydia Stout of Provo, Flora Spendlove of Hurricane, Donna Loer of Lander, Wyo., and Ester Moore of Orem; brothers, Ted Young of Phoeni and John Young of Roosevelt. Funeral services will be held Thursday (today) at 10 a.m. Arizona time at the L.D.S. Chapel in Fredonia, where friends may call one hour prior to ser iecs. Fire Chief Mike Noteman advises every proporty owner to make an inspection of their lots and remove dry grass and weeds away from frame bams, sheds and homes. With the coming warm weather, there is enough old, dry material right now to get a fire started. These types of fires are caused by children with matches or trying to bum weeds and grass during windy conditions. Persons wanting to bum should call Mike Noteman or Fred Brueck.
