The concert is scheduled for June 12 at 8.15 p.m. in the SUSC fieldhouse. The theme for the festival will be Let There Be Music" and will feature one of the largest performing groups to ever assemble in Southern Utah. The combined choir will be directed by Floyd J. Rigby of Cedar City. The orchestra will be under the direction of Mrs. June Larsen of Cedar A be a City. The event is under the direction of Elder Conrad V. Hatch. Cedar Regional Representative. The Cedar Region represents the wards and stakes from Paragonah south to New Harmony. Some of the very first forms of construction, even at the expense of personal comfort, were meeting halls to worship through song and word. Music has always been a fundamental part of the LDS Church where frequent opportunities to rehearse and perform have been enjoyed by young and old alike. Traditionally, in Southern Utah communities, concerts have consisted of classical selections from composers of the past as well as sacred music. This cultural festival is planned to again feature some of the favorites of the past both in instrumental and choral settings. Rehearsals are now being conducted by individual ward choirs and orchestra rehearsals are held each Tuesday evening in Cedar City. Members of the communities who wish to participate are still invited to do so and may contact their local leaders, June Larsen or Floyd Rigby. This concert will be free of charge and every o6d is invited to be in attendant,.
