Show Page Seven - March 23. 1978 lan,h 23, 1978 Eskdale School Wins First in 257213 Ernestly yours WEEKS The Glendale Ward Primary presented their yearly pro- gram in Sacrament meeting Sunday; it was especially interesting to see the childrens faces beam as they, each one and collectively, gave their gospel messages in song and speaking. Their teachers had spent much time and effort in teaching these little folks the gospel. It has been, enjoyable to greet our students this week who have come home for Spring Vacation; Carol Sue Baker, Tina and Kellee Brinkerhoff from Trade Tech in Provo, Shannah Drew from Dixie College, Carma Jackson and Mary Ann Brinkerhoff from SUSC in Cedar City. We are proud of our Young Mens group here, who won their games in the stake then played the basketball in tournament held in Hurricane on a region basis. The Elders Quorum here went on an excursion to the St. George Temple on Thursday. Oeon and Mildren Jackson are in California seeing their daughter, Helen, her hus- band, Glen Woodhouse, and their two children. Mrs. Charlotte Cannon, who has been here with her daughter, Leah, and family, is visiting in Monroe with a step daughter and will also go see her son, Waldo, and family in Springville. Elizabeth Brown and Dot Heaton, with her daughter, Tiana, took Lori, Connie, Carson and Tony Baird to Las Vegas Friday and Saturday to see their parents, Donald (who is hospitalized) and Deone, who is there with him. Our Boy Scout group, under the direction of Dick Spencer, was privileged to go to Phoenix to a rodeo the past week. Lonna and the children also accompanied her husband, Dick, on the trip. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Maxwell spent the past week at the St. George tgtpple; al$j) Marion and Veloicfe Cok were at the temple two days. Their daughter, Leone, who is attending school at St. georgeGeorge, returned home with them for a weekend visit. A large group from here attended the special musical Good Vibrations held in Kanab and felt that it was very special. Lynn & Christine Hatch and girls ere in Cedar City this weekend visiting his parents. Lue and Donna Brinkerhoff were in Las Vegas this weekend seeing their two sons, Steven and Kent and their families. Douglas and Leanne Carroll and children from Spanish Fork were here seeing their parents, the Jack H. Maxwells, and other relatives and friends. George and Phyllis Bridges had the privilege of having relatives visit: Moroni, his wife, Emma, and Eldon Barney from Elsinore. A large group of High Priests, with their partners, attended the High Priests social in Kanab Saturday evening and felt that it was an evening of great worth in every wav. The Hanoums have their daughter. April, her husband. Butch, and three children from California visiting them. Many friends and relatives from here attended the funeral of John S. Hardy Thursday at Orderville. LAST WEEKS The sun is shining in the valley this Monday morning. It almost seems as if spring is just around the corner. It seems as though spring has already come to usher in the love birds and weddings. Alton and Lillith Pugh went to Manti on Wednesday and Thursday to attend the wedding of thei. granddaughter, Lillia. She is the daughter of Maurice and Corine Pugh. She married Vaughn Palmer of Blanding. It was a beautiful ceremony and the temple was extra pretty with the early morning sun shining on it. Also attending the wedding was Lillia's uncle and aunt, Roger and Caroleen Chamber-lain- . bit of news, although from the Lloyd Bakers. They went to Blythe, California to see Lloyds brother. LaVonna said they were harvesting lettuce. Doesnt that make you have spring fever? Mr. George Bridges is home and improving. He would like to thank all those who visited him and sent cards while he was in the hospital. Several of the ladies in our ward attended the presentation held in Kanab on Friday of last week. It was very good and well worth the time spent. On Friday night the Kane County Farm Bureau held an open house, which was well attended and very informative. Ken Ashby from Delta and Ray Dawson from field' were there and showed a film on the coyote and predator problem. Our Sacrament meeting was under the direction of High Councilman Marlin Brown. Two returned missionaries spoke: Kevin Glazier and Lex Chamberlain, also Lexs parents, Mr. and Mrs. Garth The Region Eight solo and ensemble festival was held at Kanab High School last week. Each school was scored 10 points for a superior rating; seven points for superior minus; four points for excellent plus; two points for excellent; and 0 for excellent minus. For ratings under Excellent, points were deducted from the school's score. Eskdale School won the festival with a score of 128.
