Voltaire liens Release Glendale News from Those from here who attended the Stake Priesthood Excursion, Saturday at St. George were: Kent Anderson, Clark Your County Agenl D. . Wayne Rose Workman, I was out on the Arizona Strip with the sheepmen at shearing time last week and never in my life have I seen the desert more beautiful. Maybe the mutton and sourdough biscuits provided by . Brinkerhoffs, the Heaton Brothers, and Rolland Esplin made it look better than it really was. Their hospitality was wonderful and appreciated. Everywhere I looked there were beautiful flowers and the sheep were fatter than they were last fall. If you want to appreciate what the rains have done for us, take a drive out over the desert and enjoy the beauty that only a flowering desert can show. These warm days are getting us out to beautify our homes and surroundings. The Kanab Coordinating Council is still watching for a lot of those old fences to either be painted or torn dowm I think the other towns in Kane County could help improve their looks by doing something about their fences too. Now that spring is really with us, many are thinking of planting gardens again. Some say1 it is cheaper to buy vegetables than to raise them yourself. Anyone who has tasted fresh garden peas or had the satisfaction tot clipping just enough lettuce for the family meal will tell you that this just Isnt so. Right now is the time to plant your hardy vegetables. Some in this class are broccoli, cabbage, onions, peas, radishes, spinach, carrots, lettuce, potatoes and swiss chard. Be sure to buy good seeds of recommended varieties. Plant only a few feet of row at a time when planting lettuce, peas, radishes, etc. (those vegetables that mature rapidly). Control weeds early. An hour spent hoeing now will save hours later. I have a bulletin listing recommended varieties of vegetables in Utah and when to plant Kanab News Notes Jos Perkins, Donald Campbell.
