Soil Ccriurvation Holes Weekly By Earl Spendlove The few warm days we have had this week certainly makes one feel like summer is here. Monday I was up at Alton and the way the snow was melting and the water running, a lot of the moisture we have had is going to run off rather than soak into the ground where it can do some good. Speaking of snow, the April first Snow Survey and Water Supply Forecasts issued by the Soil Conservation Service shows that the outlook for irrigation water supply for the coming Season for the state as as a whole is from good to excellent. To bring this a little closer to home, the survey shows the water contained in the snow-pac- k on the headwaters of the Sevier and Virgin Rivers to be from 120 to 130 per cent of average. With a few warm days, the demand for assistance with conservation work has increased considerably. Ed Slack, Engineering Aid from Hurricane came over Tuesday and shot and figured ten acres of land leveling for Lester Little and helped Clo-yChamberlain with about a thousand feet of concrete ditch lining. Kerry Young is going to do the leveling for Lester and Cloyd and his neighbors, Merrill Robinson and Charlie Whipple are going to put in the concrete lining. This year these men, with the help of Dan Ogden who furnishes the concrete, have built a metal device for placing the concrete in the ditch. Now, if these men could just get something to shape the ditch with, they would be in good shape to do a lot of lining. On Friday, April 12th, Gail Heaton and his wife went to Logan where the Utah Foresters of the Utah State University presented Gail and his brothers, Vard, Ross and Loyd a handsome plaque in recognition for being selected as Top Ranchers in Utah for the year 1958. Gail says he enjoyed the meetings and banquet very much. d - Special Speaker For Saturday Meeting The Kanab Chapter of A.A. are holding an Open Meet- ing on April 19th at 8 in the City Club Room.
