Under the direction of the church's Christian education director Ranee Hollinger, the school will offer what she describes as a basic preschool program, readying little ones for kindergarten. About a year and a half ago, Hollinger heard Teresa Bogue, a known childcare nationally irdcsir m management consultant, speak and her address further piqued interest in Hollingers long-tim- e a preschool. She starting brought the idea up to the church's pastor, the Rev. Neal Humphrey. He agreed with the H7L ) idea. As the churchs Christian education director for the past eight years, it seemed natural that Hollinger should be the schools director. Besides being the Christian education director, she taught at a Christian preschool in Ogden for five years and has been substitute teaching at a Christian school in Salt Lake County. She found the perfect preschool curriculum at a Christian preschool she this visited in Pennsylvania summer. The school has a reading d area set aside, with furniture and animals painted on the walls, where kids can look at books and learn to write simple words like their names. They will also have opportunities to take books home. Youngsters will be taught such practical lessons as the importance of washing their hands and picking up after themselves. Theyll leam color and pint-size- shape recognition. Daily, the youngsters will sing songs, share a snack, and of course, there will be daily prayers. A play yard has been enclosed right outside the preschool and the kids will be allowed time outside almost We wont have a everyday. hard time keeping them busy Hollinger has found that there are not a lot of options for people wanting to enroll their children in a Christian preschool. She hopes Westminster's school helps fill the gap. Construction on U.S. 89 is winding down, and access is now open to Fruit Heights, making the preschool easier to get to. Still, she expects that at least this first year, most participants will come from within the church or nearby area. olds Classes for 3- - to will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 until 11:30 a.m. The 2- - and class is on Tuesdays from 9 until 11:30 a.m. For more information, call Westminster Presbyterian church, 546-021- Centerville Brigham City Holladay 801-296-02- Lindon 22 801-424-22- Logan Bountiful 801 -- 298-0050 801-434-42- Midvale Murray Ogden Provo 50 801-562-04- 50 801-288-06- 801-399-16- 801-812-38- 00 17 110 Salt Lake City 801-908-53- 60 80 Redwood 00 South Jordan 42 435-787-98- 435-635-- 1 Taylorsville Tooele 435-843-82- 801-968-60- 15 02 70 West Valley Coming Soon 801-253-75- 801-963-13- 00 To Heber City, & Draper |
