Lewis is the first American business professor to teach at the new university, which is headed by Gavriil Popov, former mayor of Moscow. About 70 percent of the new institution's enrollment is in business fields, said Rohen Salmon, dean ofSUU's College of Business, Technology and Communication. "They know the ball game is going to be won or lost in the global economy," Salmon said. "With the only American business professor at the lntemational University, we will have a tremendous impact on their curriculum and teaching." In addition to teaching, Lewis' duties will include helping the institution develop its business curriculum, a field almost totally ignored· in Russian education under decades of communist government, Salmon noted. Lewis is no stranger to the new university due to his efforts to provide the institution with American business texts. His wife Sheryl and four children-Jennifer, 14; Audrey, 12; Steven, 9 and Katie, 4--accompanied him on the teaching sabbatical. They will atrend Russian schools, including both English and Russian language sections, with their mother providing sµpplemental schooling. The Moscow university provides the family with three rooms that are "hopefully adjoining: Lewis said. Although the Lewis family has been preparing for the stay, Privately funded scholarships a re available . Many have no GPA, fina nc ia l need or age requirements. Results gua ra nteed .
