Show u N I V E R s I v· MONDAY, APRIL 9, 2001 S.e ats for Assembly still open BY KAMI SAVAGE JOURNAL EDITOR After Friday's deadline passed for the submission of application materials for seats in SUUSA's new Assembly, positions were still open in three of the seven clubs and organizations categories. A lack of applicants in the Academic Development, Greek and Support categories has led to the reopening of the application process in those areas. Notice of candidacy applications for the aforementioned categories will be due by Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the SU USA offices. Those candidates who have already applied in those three categories w ill be included as candidates and need not reapply. Candidates for the other categories are: • For Professional Development-Luke Yardley of DEX , Tarrence Warenski of PAC and Diane Carrol of Psi Chi. • For Entertainment-Hayley Titus of Music, Jaime Crane of Music, Robert Ferre of the TV Club and Katy Nafus of Orchesis. • For Athletics/Recreation-Megan Ruesch of Volleyball, Gage Hansen of Cheer, Jeric Leavitt of Volleyball and Matt Pett of Cheer • For Service/Multicultural-Steve Borg of the Earth Club, Todd Fallows of the Earth Club, Kassandra Harrell of the Black Student Alliance, Matthew Hamilton of the Black Student Alliance and Franchesa Van Buren of the Hispanic Club. SUUSA COiiege of Science Sen. Timette Wankier, a senior math major from Las Vegas, said that if enough applications are not received in the three categories deficient of applicants, the,:, Eric Kirby, a sophomore bu~iness major from West Valley City and clubs and organizations vice president-elect, will appoint students in those positions. "I'm excited about the number of people that put in their applications, but disappointed that we didn't fill all of the spots," said Wan kier. Elections for the Assembly positions will be on April 18 and will not extend through the week as previously discussed, said Wankier Club presidents must submit their votes by 5 p.m. The results will be posted afterward and will be printed in the April 19 issue of the Journal. All Assembly candidates and those interested must.attend the dubs and organizations meeting today at 4·p.m. in the Zion Room of the Sharwan Smith Center, said Wankier.
