Sherratt Library at Southern Utah University will be a part of Utah's statewide observance of ·Archives Week.· The open house will be held each day from 9 a.m.-5 p·.m. through tomorrow at the Special Collections Library (Room 005) on the- ?.! garden level of the Library. ·our goal is to acquaint anyone interested with what it is that we do here in special collections and archiving,• Janet Seegmiller, special collections librarian, explains. Among the displays are a variety of Jocal history manuscripts, a photographic display of Cedar City during the Depression years, and suy yearbooks and student newspapers throughout the entire history of the · university. A tour of the Special Collections Library and basic instruction on how to locate material in the library by using the internet will be offered. · . · we will also have access to all of the photographic negatives in the collection of Homer Jones, a long-time area commercial photographer,· Seegmiller said. ·we will make prints-on the spot-for only the cost of materials from negatives in that collection. Other Iron County Archives Week activities include an exhibit of abstract expressionist paintings by Barbara Zavada being shown at the Iron Mission Museum, 635 N. Main, through Oct. 21 . . The museum will also host a lecture by Steven Olsen, adjunct professor at Brigham Young University and an LOS Church historian, titled "Ordering the Wilderness: Mormon Settlement as Cultural Process.· The overall theme for the statewide activities which will be held in Box Elder, Cache, Iron, Salt Lake, San Juan, Utah , and Weber counties, is "Remembering.· All . .
