USG names marketing director The Utah Summer Garnes bas named a new full-tim e director of marketing and development in preparation for the 13th annual presentation for the Games beginning June 10-23, 1998. Wendy Armagnac, who was recently the director of marketing and public relations with the Utah Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City for t he last three years, has been selected to fill the Summer Garnes post and fills a vacancy left by Michael Schetzel, who resigned to pursue a sports management position at Madison Square Garden in New York. Armagnac's exten sive and varied experi.ence in marketing and public relations should prove invaluable to the Utah Summer Games as the festival continues to grow and develop through its second decade, according to David Slack, executive director of the Games. "We're excited to welcome Wendy to the Utah Summer Games • Organization, and we look forward to working with her as we expand the Games to include ever greater circles of Utah participants and supporters," Slack said. "We're particularly impressed with Wendy's creative energy and her tremendous drive, qualities that are sure to be considerable assets to our team." "We're also deeply · grateful for the support we have received from area businesses and corporations in the past," Slack added. "We know that Wendy's creativity, experience, and long established business relationships will help us to extend the opportunities of sponsorship to even more businesses in this state.'' A 1978 graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz with a degree in English and theatre, Armagnac also holds teaching credentials in both secondary and elementary education. Armagnac has lent her skills to a djverse group of theatre companies, foundations and public relations £inns. Most recently, Armagnac was working with Strategic Communication, Inc., a public relations/ communfoations firm.
