Betit will remain health director but is to consult with Human Services. The 90-day project is a collaborative effort to put the "best thinking and talent" at high-priority issues, said Vicki Varela, spokeswoman for Gov. Mike Leavitt. MOSCOW TURNS TO OGDEN IRS TO LEARN TAXING ROPES: Internal Revenue Service Ogden Service Center, met State Tax Service, headquarters Moscow. A delegation of three high-ranking Russian finance and taxation officials toured the Ogden IRS center yesterday for a closer look at America's sophisticated, automated and oftexcoriated system of income tax collection. ST. GEORGE ATTORNEY ANGRY RAPE SUSPECT WAS NOT DEPORTED: Sen. Bob Bennett and the Washington County attorney's office are questioning why a Mexican national charged with rape was not deported following a previous conviction. Fredrico Nanez Gomez, 22, who was living in the country illegally, was charged last week with rape of a child and aggravated burglary, both first-degree felonies. The charges stem from the July rape of an 11-year-old girl. SALT LAKE MOTHER AND BOYFRIEND CHARGED WITH CHILD ABUSE: Felony child-abuse charges have been filed against a mother and her boyfriend in the case of a 5-year-old child who was found naked and shivering, locked in a room without heat. The child's mother, Maria Lisa Casetta,. 31, and her boyfriend, Terry Casper, 35, were charged Wednesday and were being held in lieu of $5,000 bail each. .DONATIONS TO FUND REBUILDING OF SNOWVILLE FIRE STATION: Residents and local companies have chipped in more than $11,000 to rebuild the town's fire station that volunteer firefighters accidentally set ablaze. The donations have allowed Mayor Carolyn Larkin to withdraw the town's application for emergency federal funds.The local money, insurance and the town's remaining fire budget should cover the new $60,000 fire house, she said.
