Fullback and Midfielder New coach $ named at Weber State Weber State Football Coach Pete Riehlman today named Bill Bryant, currently an assistant at Indiana State University, MIKE JACHIM asked to participate in elite camp in California, which begins July 8th. summer hockey training Jachim invited to perform at camp Mike Jachim of 4788 South 2400 West has recently been invited to participate in the AHAUS Hockey Development Camp at the U.S 0 C. Training Center in Squaw Valley, California. He will attend the camp from July 8th to July 14th. Lefty Smith, head coach at the University of Notre Dame, will act as the Camp Director and Head Coach. The following is a letter sent to Mike signed by Coach Smith: June 1979 You have been selected to a very elite group of hockey players from the Rocky Mountain and Far West regions of AHAUS to participate in a one week training camp at the Olympic Center in Squaw Valley. The enclosed materials will give you the Fred is off to New as the newest member of the Wildcat Football Staff. Bryant will join the Wildcats Monday, June 25, subject to the approval of the institutional council. The 32 year old Bryant replaces Don McCaulley, who left the staff to go into private business. A native of California, he played football and graduated from University of California Davis. He is presently the coach of Alta Highs wrestling team. He is most noted for, at least recently, forJiis initiative efforts in helping to produce the film Take Down. Mr. Hendershot had called upon a lifetime of wrestling memories to put together the .featured film. The featured guests at the wrestling n Utah clinic include some wrestling personalities, such as Mac' Taft and Eric Hendershot. The name well-know- Coach Taft is a household name among Weber County sports enthusiasts, especially among those who followed the sport of wrestling years back. Hold on, we will tell you another Fernandes, who emerged as one of e the premier athletes in the history of Roy High School and the state of Utah has been selected a winner of the 1979 Hertz No. One Award in Utah, it was announced recently. Fernandes was chosen for the award for his outstanding performance in football against Sky View during last years Region One contest. In that game, Fernandes scored five, touchdowns in leading the Royals to a 34-- 0 victory. He rushed 17 times for 270 yards against the Bobcats, with touchdown runs of 44, 70, 91, and 29 yards and a punt return for a University of Oregon. During the past year at Indiana State University he was the defensive line coach and headed up the kicking game for the Sycamores. Included in his credentials is a years stint in the U.S. Army where he played and coached with the 8th Infantry Division team in Germany. Bryant has been a participant in coaching clinics in California and has been published in the American Football Coaches Association Journal. He and his wife Jo Ann are currently relocating to Ogden along old daughter. with their one-yeThe appointment of Bryant completes the Wildcat staff for the coming season.
