Show I f Addition planned for school A new auditorium at Utah State Training School in American Fork is now under construction. The $494,621 contract has been awarded to general contractors Benson, Ralphs & Co., of Orem. They will have 565 calendar days to complete the project. The base bid includes the 72 by 134 foot brick building, plus alternatives, which include carpeting, air conditioning and a total sound system The building will contain 12,156 square feet and will be attached to the south side of the existing education building. The new masonry building will seat 526, plus spaces for 24 wheel chairs and includes two lobbies, exit ramps and stairs from both lobbies and a spacious stage. A lectern, small instrument area and wide steps leading to the stage are included in plans. Costume storage will be accommodated on the second floor of the building over the stage. The interior of the building will be decorated in primary colors of red, white and blue, according to Kathryn Vernon, architect with the Utah State Building Board, who will supervise the construction project. The building may also be entered from the school education building, with a ramp provided to a corridor which connects the two structures.
