Mr. Smith called for the dancing. Students from the School for the Blind wore colorful costumes of blue and white checked gingham. The boys shirts were trimmed with red, and they wore red neck scarfs. The red bouffant nylon slips of the girls peeked from oer.eath their blue and white checked pinafores. The costumes were donated to the dancers by the Roy Lions Club. For the many children involved, it was truly a night to remember. Thursday, April Lurge Jumbo Hawaiian Ea. Utah. $ When asked if space travel reassured their faith in God, Dr. Schmitt said: "It reconfirms and strengthens the thing you believed before. For the Russian example, astronauts, who professed not to believe in God, went up not believing, and because they didnt see God, they used that to strengthen their position. Right now we are inspired by what we already believe, the trip reinforced us. "We have put man on the moon six times and have been to the moon nine times. You just have to have faith in God. He did it, we had the ambition and the curosity, but He did it. I came back even more convinced. Commander Cernan said: My feeling is that the universe it too beautiful not to have a and purposeful logical destiny. From what I saw, it had to be dictated by someone, something bigger than us all, regardless of how you and I decide to worship. But, He gave us intelligence, curiosity, His spirit, His soul and said: Go to it, man, explore this universe, explore the products of infinity and make this world a better place for man to live in. I believe we are in no way offending this Supreme Being who put it all together for us, he said. What does the universe look like up there? asked the Mormon leaders. The Dr. Schmitt replied: universe looks very similar to what we see from here. There is one new object and that is the earth - otherwise the universe looks much the same. Perhaps the stars are brighter because of the lack of atmosphere, but the earth looks much more colorful than the other objects of the universe. "The earth looks alive, with trails of the clouds, the drift of the continents and the ice caps It is a all can be seen. beautiful and majestic sight available to man. Yes, the earth has a different quality and color. It looks like it is alive ... Having cc.re from the earth, it reinforces my opinion that it is alive and it is something that can preserve itself indefinitely, if we do our part. f t, I , -- i ' , 17b ocn th Union Pacific railroad people 12. .j ' |
