Although was very sick crossing the sea, never being out of her bed, she clung to the promise given her and trusted with faith, is now Cedar City, Utah. They arrived November 14, 1856. When they moved into the city, Mary was bom September 3, 1857. During the summer they dug a cellar and they moved into it in August. The next summer they built two rooms above it. This was one of the first homes built in Cedar City which was at Cen- ter Street and Third East. Since so much water was needed for tanning leather, and it was e possible to keep the ditch from breaking, they moved back to the old fort. It was here that Margaret was bom on Septem-B- y ber 19, 1860. Then Peder bought a four room house in the city which they moved into that fall, living there the rest of their life. Their last child, Peter, was bom im-th- when they would arrive for con-o- n ference or visits. Margaret ways prepared for them and did y all she could to make them fortable. Peder and Margaret were a very hospitable couple and the emigrants from the north would try to arrange their ret corn-onl- drives to make Brother Mackelprangs for the night.
