Due to his good health prior to the stroke and good care after the stroke, that is the only thing that hasnt returned to full recovery, but its coming back more everyday. Dougs good health has the doctors baffled as to why such a thing happened because hes too healthy. But everything happens for a reason and a higher power had a reason for Dougs stroke. So again, thank you each and everyone for your prayers and donations in our time of need. ner; Claudia Presto, Greyhound Saturday, Gang; and the Crescent Moon up Day. What exactly does that Theater. It is worth mentioning once again, that the woman is the one of the two people who initiate the pregnancy who has the problem, whose life is forever changed if she is forced to bear an unwanted child. It is the woman who undergoes the trauma of the unwanted pregnancy, who undergoes the pain of childbirth, who often undergoes the problems of raising the child alone, if forced to continue the pregnancy. Those who believe in the principle of forcing this situation are not often involved in the problems undertaken by a woman and do not support her ability to raise the child, financially, emotionally or socially. It seems clear to me that this decision is not should make. The issue ofstem cell research, which President Bush also opposes, is one which promises to help solve the problems of many debilitative diseases. cell-base- Guest Ed Continued from Page 4 well-wor- n themes. Utahns, es- pecially rural Utahns, have vast experience in dealings with the federal government regarding land use issues. If we have learned anything over the years, it is that the federal government has an inclination to marginalize public comment on federal actions. Furthermore, when an agreeable EIS is all that is required prior to a desired federal action, a supportive EIS will most likely materialize. Legislation coming from a Utah Congressional representative should work to curb these tendencies - not facilitate them. Unfortunately, Mathesons legislation will greatly assist the federal government in continuing business as usual unless it is to address local concerns. I am against the resumption of nuclear testing in Nevada, but Utahns must do more than simply offer legislation that re-writt- en - ill-suit- tive who ed continually marginalizes a large portion of his district. On issues such as nuclear testing, the stakes are too high for rural Utahns to be continually forgotten and left out of meaningful dialogue on issues that directly impact their communities. True representation for southern Utah requires ongoing work with local mayors, commissioners, teachers, ranchers, business owners, parents, and all citizens who have a stake in the important issues that impact Our America. Nobody is pro-aborti- on Dear Editor: I would like to start this letter by stating that I unequivocally to replace ailing or destroyed tissue, but the need for transplantable tissues and organs far outweighs the available supply. Stem cells, directed to differentiate into specific cell types, offer the possibility ofa renewable source of replacement cells and tissues to treat diseases including Parkinsons and Alzheimers diseases, spinal cord injury, stroke, bums, heart disease, diabetes, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. It seems to me that this president, who has so often been shown to be faulty in his reasoning, should not be praised for his black and white stances: The invasion of Iraq without a clear idea of what to do after the invaClean Air sion, the which Act, supports policies that pollute the air, the use of the environment which belongs to all of us for the benefit of his msgor contributors, etc. I have a great deal of trouble believe in free speech and an unfettered press. Dear Editor: I would like to talk about how Fredonia was supposed to build a skate park. A couple of years ago the Town, said that they would build us one. When it was time to build the skate park they never built the skate park. So I want to know why they never built a skate park in Fredonia? Dear Editor: I am starting to wonder if anybody is ever going to improve our swimming pool or get a new one. I thought the money from the recreational tax was supposed to be used to do that. I like swimming and I. know a lot of other people like swimming too, and I know a lot of people want o improve or to have a new swimming pool. Lots of people go to Fredonia to swim, because they have a better swimming pool. Most people just want a diving board so if you could just make the deep end deeper, and add a diving board, it would satisfy a lot of people. Thats just what I think about that and I hope you can make a change about it. Aaron Downward, Kanab Young opinion Dear Editor: I for one think that they shouldnt do nuclear testing in the Nevada Test Site. The fallout here in Kane County is huge in numbers. Kane County is ranked 7th nationally for the most fallout. If they do nuclear testing, radiation will be here for a long time. If I plan to stay here and have kids, I dont want them to grow up in those types of conditions. What really makes me mad is the people for nuclear testing. They just dont realize how dangerous the fallout is here in Utah. Especially in Washington County, it is ranked number one in the nation for fallout areas. Well, I dont know what you want to happen, hopefully youre against it, well bye. Sincerely, Sterling Howells |
