The early opener bombed with fewer than 200 fish taken the first two days out of approximately 2000 fishermen who showed up opening day Saturday. But the weather was beautiful and for those who just needed to Lake was get away, Minersvllle probably as good as any place. -0- Ray Holt, representing the Utah Classified Employees Association met with the board and discussed some of the changes In the association and possible salary adjustments for next year. Mr. Holt reported that 32 of the school systems in ten states are designated as classified employees. Board will consider adjustments during next years budget preparation. Dean Brown met with the board and reported on the State Library Convention and the overall condition and needs of the Media Center at Beaver High School. Mr. Brown asked that he be allowed to attend each year instead of every other year. Request will be considered by the board. Marlon Tree and A1 Marshall representing the UJ3AA. met with the board and asked for input on realignment possibilities in the State and their views on out of state travel. Good discussions were had. Lynn Bradshaw and Wayne W. Wiseman reported about the Convention attended on 'Excellence in Our Schools, Making It Happen". They received first hand views on how things change when decisions are made at the top level. Many new ideas were received. Wayne W. Wiseman moved that Marilyn R. Brown be offered a contract to teach second grade at the Belknap school next year. The motion was approved. Keith Stuck!, Beaver High School Studentbody President, and Marjorie H. Schuldt, Five County Family Life Services, met with the board and discussed drug and alcohol use in the area and ways to help with the problem . Several program s will be made available to the schools in the district to help with the problem . After considerable discussion regarding drug problems in our schools, Wayne W. Beavers Easter Egg Hunt which is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the National Guard Armory on Friday, April 20. All children from age one to 12 are invited to participate. They will be divided into different age groups. Miners vllle held their Easter Egg Hunt on Tuesday, to allow for many children who will be out of town Easter to participate. A dinner consisting of chili burgers, choice of potato chips or potato salad and punch will be sold, along with the usual assortment of goodies. Clark Layton met with the Commission about building permits and a conditional use permit for the IPP transmission line through Beaver County. After some discussion they moved into the courtroom to meet with the Planning Commission. IPP had met with the Planning Commission in October of 1980, but had never returned with facts and figures, or an application. After considerable discussion it was decided that they did not have adequate material to explain the transmission route or local impact it will have on private property and county roads to make a decision. It was agreed they should come to the regular PlanningCommisslon meeting on April 18 (last night) for further discussion. IRBY Construction has moved into Milford and is nearly ready to go to work on the line, but cant until corridor problems are worked out with BLM, and a conditional use permit is issued by the county. IRBY will headquarter in Milford during the construction period which will be in four phases. All block chairmen have been chosen, and quite a number of citizens have made arrangements for special pickups. The city crew reported that Mondays regular garbage pickup was evidence that many local residents had taken advantage of the warm weekend to clean in their yards and gardens. Lister said she wanted to purchase shrubs for the entrance ways to Milford, around the city office, and in he Historical Park. She had done some pricing and was authorized to spend up to $600 on her beautification projects. They also discussed remodeling of the downstairs entrance to the Milford Library. Gary Sullivan discussed several items with the council. They included waiting until after spring runoff before replacing the fence on the west end of the lagoons, rates which he took down to make repairs his canal.
