These witnesses examine both the petition presented to the Public Service Commission as well as all aspects of the field work done by UP&L Company to see, if, indeed, the rate increase is justified. We are asking your readers and our friends to call at least one of their legislators. We realize that for some of us it means a long distance call. If you dont feel you can afford a call, please, please write to the feedback Dear Red, I need to make an address change service, in their infinite wisdom, has changed the way my mail is delivered here. In the past, the postal service had three employees here in Blanding and everyone had a post office box which rented for $5.00 per We all went to the post year. office and picked up our mail(which was in the boxes by 11. 00 a.m., giving us time to go to the bank or send return mail on the same day, as occasions warranted). Then somebody, somewhere came up with a great idea! Why not set up neighborhood delivery boxes and scatter them throughout the town, making it more convenient for people to get their mail? And why not make all of this wonderful service free to the postal patron? Indeed, why not? A contract was let to have these delivery boxes installed all over town; a delivery vehicle was allocated to Blanding; two more employees were hired to handle the sorting and delivery; and if anyone chose not take advantage of the free service, the post office box rental was increased from $5.00 per year to $20.G0. So now I get my mall a block Instead of at away from home. 11:00 a.m., however, it now comes at 3:00 p.m., to late for anything transactions or requiring bank return mail that day. But after all, it is free right? I can't wait, though, to see what excuses tin postal service comes up with the next time they want to Increase the price for mailing a letter. (Fight Local Utilities Faction) Committee is back tn action. As you know, Utah Power and Light Company has once again gone to the Public Service Commission with a huge general rate increase request. With this request, however, the F.L.U.F. Committee has to take a different approach to the matter of fighting a utility rate increase. UPAL is very influential, our usual tactics of petition against this request will not make much Impact.
