Show THE PERFORMING ARTS vViRi Gam da liiBiDfl M':inntTiiiirtiT No. HIGHLAND I . County Fair RarinToOpen Another Look tirrafliStfSiii NOW PLAYING At Music Hall HALL MUSIC VALLEY or POSTSCRIPT The managing editor tells me the Reviews telephone lines have been busy since my column of two weeks ago. He reports, further, that almost without exception, the callers were VMH stockholders in various stages of conPost-Morte- m' 4-- cern over their investment. Their concern is understandable. And, no doubt, most of them have taken their VMH prospectus out of dusty files amd have read them carefully perhaps for the first I did as much back time in November when I was first visisted by VMH stock pedler Mel Dorius who pushed for the Deseret News circulation department in the good old date. The prospectus makes interesting reading. It is the only way to get a true picture of the organizational set-uwith Hollywoods the tie-i- n p; Leroy Print, et al.; exactly is putting up the cold cash; how much; and when; how profits (or deficits) are split (or covered); who calls the production shots, personnel-who and repertory-wis- e, liability of stock holders etc. I am no financial wizard. I can read a prospectus and wise financial report as well as a stockholders musical score should acquaint themselves therewith whether the venture be AT AT, LPAL or VMH. If I had done as much eight ago, I wouldn't have PLUS GUY MADISON IN "GUNMAN OF THK RIO CRANOE HIGHLAND No. 2 - NOW PLAYING li: 5 4 crop vvonriYiNGi fears $500 on a "revolutionary" guitar $. ed locally-conceiv- that was going to "revolutionise" the Instrument industry!! In the meantime, there remain some problems which prompt the following: 1.1 Carousel, VMH opener, profusely "papered", has played essentially to- half to houses. Most of the stockholders saw the opening night's full house under Hollywood glare (or perhaps the glare blinded). I suggest a look during the week. Really, fellas! 3.- ) It now appears that some church officials - and, I suppose, civic leaders, as well may have been "used" or, rather mis-usby eager, earnest, sincere promoters. Witness, the ground breaking remarks on the frontpiece of the official program, the parading before TV cameras, etc. One expects some of this during heated partisan elections, but in a business venture??? 4.- ) A ny one who ha s va tched the local scene, acquires a seventh sense concerning atextendance, family-budgetpenses for entertainment, auetc. dience make-u- p, Set me down blind folded in any SL audience - I care not which - and 1 11 identify summer gjgSRjffi Reduced :S show telecast to Hedda the Hat: "We can't miss in this (Continued on Page t Western ;j I a new and attendof 6 to Monday, August 16: 9 A M, weighing in of fatbeef and hogs; 7:30 A M, entries for first flower show; 8 A M judging of candy and bakeu products; 8 A M., horticulture entries; 9 A M . all other entires in place; 10 A M, judging FFA and open flowers, crops. If ever a community was mis read by a business enter prize, Zion was, by VMH moguls. It Is dangerous for any business to focus its sales effort at a single denomination, social stratum, or ethnic group. Not only dangerous rather, sheer folly!
