Earnings from the foundation finds were authomed by the board of directors, to help purchase theatre -- type seats which are now being installed. With the medical center now in operation, the school is urgently in need of seats for the auditorium before classes start this fall. A check for $15,800, earnings from the fund, was turned over to Dr. Kenneth B. Castle-to- n, Dean of the College of Medicine, by Mr. Bowman. The Utah Medical Foundation was established two years ago after the Utah KO Polio" which has been campaign, hailed as one of the most successful immuniiation programs in the country. The campaign was directed and sponsored by the Utah State Medical Association. About a quarter of a million dollars surplus was created as a result of the great community efforts of press, radio, television, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, civic clubs, and hunof others dreds who volunteered their services. Community leaders at that time suggested the formation of the Utah Medical Foundation Fund as a permanent organization to handle the funds. Billings, attorney, director. vice-presid- Overnight Camping OK Again Overnight camping in the Spruces picnic area has been restored, the Salt Lake County Recreation Department announced this week. Camping overnight in this area , which is located about seven miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon, has been restricted during the sum mer months so that the area would be available for picnic ing. The restriction has been lifted early because of the decrease in attendance, recreation officials said. Tables and fireplaces have been installed lntheSpruces during the past few weeks by members of the Neighborhood Youth Corps, adding to it's desirability as a picnic spot. Recreation officials also noted that it is not necessary to have a $7 federal camp ground sticker when camping in this area K IKW . Five-Yea- r Study Aids Alcoholics Teeny Midget Racers Three major races were run to begin competition at the Hammond Raceways in the Cottonwood Mall last Saturday night, including the open driver 'race, the Strombecker international race and the Ford Aurora race. Bob Bottman came in first place in the open driver race, followed by Davif Boyd, second and Dean Kelly, third. Lee Hammond, Don Orlich and Mike Doherty came in first, second and third, respectively, in the Strombecker international race. This race is run the first Saturday of each month through February, followed with a championship race that could possibly lead to the world tournament.
