Uintah decked quarterback Jacobsen for a one yard loss and decked Evan Thomas on a pitch at the seven, but Pleasant Grove fooled the Utes with a seven yard pass down the right side from Jacobsen to Johansson for the first touchdown of the game with 10:25 to go in the first half. The Ute defense quickly went to work on putting pressure on the Pleasant Grove offense. Uintah just missed an interception and sacked the quarterback, twice for an eight yard loss. Uintah failed to move the football and punted it away and Pleasant Grove gained a first down at its own 45. Evan Thomas dropped to one knee during a halfback option pass and the Vikings were pushed back to the 37. Uintah gained another quarterback sack and a number of other losses dropped the Vikings back at their 48 yard line. Pleasant Grove punted the ball to the Utes. A penalty against the Utes placed the Vikings at their own 48 yard line and a pass catch by Don Young advanced Pleasant Grove to Uintahs 36. Hooley carried the ball to the 28 yard line on the last play of the third quarter. Chad Henry picked up a first down 24 early in the fourth quarter, but Teo decked a Viking runner at the 26 and Valton Mortenson broke up a pass intended for Pleasant Groves Brian Hansgen. Lee Schulz, Steinfeldt, Williams and Kyle White decked Henry on a third down play, but the Vikings motored to the 13 yard line for a first down. The Ute defense shut down the Viking touchdown hopes as they broke up a pass and forced two incomplete passes. Bezzant connected on a 30 yard field goal to give Pleasant Grove a 0 lead with 10:19 to go in the game. Nawahine advanced the ball to the Uintah 45 yard line on the kickoff return and quarterback Kenny Mohar was stopped for no gain on the first play. The Utes came out smoking on the next play as Mohar fired a 55 yard pass bomb to Todd Mulville, who burned the Viking defense for a at the 9-- touchdown with 8:57 left in the game, which made the score 6 in favor of the Vikings. Mohar was sacked on the conversion attempt. Uintah performed an excellent kickoff as they downed the ball at the Pleasant Grove 15 and a holding penalty put the Vikings at the 7 yard line. Another penalty pushed the Vikings back to their 4 yard line. A running play put the Vikings on the nine and a second down pass was incomplete. Pleasant Grove went for a quick kick on a third down play and the Utes gained the ball on their 45 yard line. Uintah advanced the ball into Pleasant Grove territory at the 45 yard line and went for a first down on fourth down play and were stopped short of their goal.
