These are things we would never have enough money to purchase with budgeted funds. It sure helps out, Morgan said. Students have completed pictures for showing off and others continue working on hook latch, popcicle stick art, paper projects and more, made from these materials. Wilkins said over the years a number of local businesses have kept the centers needs in mind and have saved things like wallpaper sample formica and books, paneling samples, wood and fabric scraps and outdated or discontinued items for the school. Other items that would be useful for this years projects would be: used bed colored chenille sheets, bedspreads, draperies and furniture throws (which will be used for weaving rugs), nylons and other stuffing materials, buttons, leather scraps and carpet pieces, paint, glue and trimmings. Clubs and civic groups offer services to the center which are another source of enrichment to the students. They have given parties, provided entertainment and programs, play equipment and more. Wilkins said they could not begin to name all of those who have given time, talent and other donations to the school. The community has been a continual source of support," she noted. Some people have shared items from their gardens and farms with the center. Wilkins said baskets of apples and vegetables arrived at the school periodically. There are eighty students at the Learning Center this year, a few less than in years past. Twelve instructors divide the various class duties. Morgan said they hope to continue to receive donations and cooperation from the community and are appreciative of all gestures of support given to the Learning Center. c'l:: X5 THE PERFECT answer for holding those Halloween treats!
