Less garbage is better than more. Debts and risks always win. Real people do not pay for the plant; its phantom users that pay. When the time comes, and it will, to pay back bond deficiencies, operation and cost deficiencies, reality will strike. You will find out people and users are the same. Bonds and debts are pay back money, and money is money. When Jeffries magical computer tells you a plant has 400 tons and reality says you have 183 tons, that is more than half less money. When Mountain fuel charges $2.32 per thousand lbs, and Hill AFB gets it for 10 percent less than market price and Jeffries computerized chart indicates $6.09 per thousand lbs., thats highly speculative plus nearly two thirds less money and likely bankruptcy, thats reality. When Jeffries chart shows cost to convert a ton of garbage to steam equals $77 and you have one month of heavy steam useage, two months medium, two months light and seven months with no steam. Thats disastrous but reality. When officials "start spending money they never stop themselves. If they stop, its because somebody faces reality and stops them. I hope the level heads of the district board will stop them. It will not come from the head of a commissioner. They are unchangeable. Somebody needs to stop the magical computer. Reality is now. Money is money. Kenneth Reecl Clearfield Keep Lice From Children BRAD NEIGER Review Guest Columnist Mention the word lice and what comes' to mind? Vagabonds Disease? Poor, living conditions? d housing? Ignorance? Say what you will about lice and what you think the causes and major contributors are, but weve got the problem right in our own back yard. Lice have been around a long time, probably as long as people. The ancient Greeks and Egyptians wrote about lice, and remains of these irritating insects have been found on prehistoric American Indian mummies. Lice infestation was fairly widespread until the use of DDT during World War II. DDT almost eradicated the problem but recently there has been a resurgence of lice. Current estimates suggest that at any given time, millions of Americans may be infested with lice, and the number is inOver-crowde- creasing. Recently there have been repeated calls throughout Davis County to schools, nursing stations, and doctors offices with reports of the problem. Although Davis County is no more affected by the problem than surrounding counties, there is reaosn for concern and more importantly: action, control, and elimination of this nuisance. Head lice (pediculus humanus capitis) are small, flat, wingless insects with stubby antennae and three pairs of legs, Which end in sharp, curved claws. Theyre the kind of lice that make their home in your hair. They grow in little round eggs (nits) which are attached to the base of hairs. Lice keep warm on a persons scalp where they enjoy a blood breakfast and then lay their eggs ons trands of hair close to the skin. Head lice cannot jump or fly from one person to another, but they are spread chiefly by personal contact or the sharing of such items as brushes, combs, hats, scarves, and coats. School children especially may Become infested with lice because of their close contact in the classrooms . and at play. All parents must be concerned with this issue.
