LYNDIA GRAHAM Review Correspondent rid of your closet was the theme of a lecture presented recently by Dr. Leslie L. Davis, a Utah State University assistant professor of fashion pierchandising. Her presentation showed Davis County women how to get more than 50 different looks from 13 basic fashion pieces and how to choose clothing that would reflect their lifestyles while building good self images. The first step, according to Dr. Davis, is to analyze who you are and what your lifestyle is. Who you are may be the most difficult. That can include situations like being a wife, mother, homemaker, career woman, church worker, volunteer, anything that deals with social roles and memberships. All of these things call for certain types of clothing. Things and traits that deal with personality also need to be considered. Are you happy, sad, intelligent, outgoing, or shy and retiring. These traits also will be in clothing choices, Physical characteristics play an important role in clothing choices, Dr. Davis said. The col- and length of your hair, whether you are tall or short, thin or plump, all need to be Getting .:! s of clothing. But . she added that it is not practical for most people to store clothing ' and that storage should definitely be out of the closet area. The next step in wardrobe planning is the actual inventory youll have a good idea of where to start with wardrobe additions. Seasonal needs must also be considered and plans made ahead of the season for major purchases. When making firm plans for J wardrobe improvements, Dr. javjs suggested, two or three basic colors be chosen that are good classic colors and that are complementary to your own coloring one good plan is to buy your articles such as suits, pants, and skirts, in basic colors and blouses and sweaters in accent colors, she said. For instance, brown and beige could be basics and rust, coral, gold, tan, champagne and amber could be used as accents. Navy and maroon basics could use pale blue, grey, slate blue, emerald green, red and gold as accents. non-existe- nt ' C ILstesM OassMedl n of tile and good looking, she said. Dr. Davis said that these possibilities are not inclusive and that there could be an exhaustive combination of accent colors to go with any of the basic colors used. She demonstrated the possibilities of combining articles of clothing for a different fashion look without a huge wardrobe by selecting 3 pieces of clothing. She showed a grey skirt, jacket, and pants, and a maroon skirt jacket, and pants, as the basics in both color and types of articles. She accented with a cream blouse with a black tie, a stripe blouse which included maroon, grey and blue, a print blouse in accent colors, a tweed crewneck sweater, a plaid skirt in grey, maroon, and blue, and a paisley skirt and blouse that had the ' look of a dress when worn ian or Cult?
